My CZ858 Mk2 review.

never heard of a MK2 do you mean Tactical 2? Nice purchase anyways I know I love mine. Just make sure you buy a couple crates at a time. You will be surprised how quick they dissapear.

Mk 2, it's slang for the civi semi-auto version with the 18.5 inch barrell.
Basic review nothing new.. just how it looks and feels, range report to follow.

Haven't fired it yet.

Happy Holloween !

how many shots in your test target ? i got 5 and i will assume its at 100m.

Looks like 7 shots.... not sure on the distance it was tested. Would like to know for sure.... i can't make heads or tails out of the target :p

Happy Holloween Everyone... stay safe tonight and don't drink and drive !

one thing you'll notice is the cleaning rod supplied is not long enough for the 18.5" barrel. At least the one that came with mine is not. =( I just shot mine for the first time today. Loads of fun. Cleaning, not so much. I am however, overly thorough.

Yup, you are right.... any .308 rod seems to fit. I was kinda shocked they overlooked that.

I have purchase a second cleaning kit so i have plenty of cleaning rod sections.:D

It's likely for the same reason that the Mosin Nagant's cleaning rod is too short. In the field soldier link each others together and take turns cleaning their rifles.

At least that makes sense to me... technically the VZ58 is a surplus rifle.

Also, I love my rifle as well. I was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy it puts out, even with Czech surplus! Only complaint is that some Czech soldier scratched his initials onto one of my magazines!

Update: range report

Ok so right off at 100 yds, she was shooting high and centerd. The sights were set at 200 yds, and after adjusting them to 100 yds, i was consistantly hitting round the bullseye. Based on this i can say the factory test fired target was probly shot at 200 yds.

As far as rounds fired "S&B Corrosive steal cased FMJ"... 80 down range.... 2 stoppages, both failures to extract and both were due to CLP on the bolt face, once the bolt face/extractor was dried off it was good too go. i had a bit too much CLP on the reciever tracks and it made its way forward on to the bolt face after she got hot."

I would consider the first range day to be pretty awsome. From the standing position was hitting the target at 100yds...pretty accurate.

If you are hitting the bull's eye at 25 meter's the x39 round's arc means that you will hit the bull's eye at 200 meter's. As for the CLP burning up I would switch over to some high heat wheal bearing grease and give the rail's a quick squirt. You will find that is won't heat up and run off leaving your rifle ridding on metal to metal.
