Any clue what's happened to this revolver?

Found pictures :eek:, but I cannot figure up what caused this:

Looks like rounds just exploded in it, but rubber is in tact. Microwave? [That's my wild guess]
 
Just a double charge or wrong powder. It looks like his first (and last) shot. When the cylinder ruptured, it tore the brass cases beside it and then the powder in those other cases ignited.

Note that the brass in the adjoining cases was pushed by by a relatively weak detonation compared to the one that tore the cylinder and top strap off the revolver.


A little JB Weld will fixer right up......
 
Great example of how revolvers are designed to direct the force of the explosion away from the shooter.
I had an old webley blow up on me years ago. half the cylinder flew over my shoulder..not a nice feeling.
 
not enough pressure....

the bullet didn't even leave the cylinder...

So next time put a few more grains of that powder.
 
I was told this guy shoot Arrows now. He said reloading arrows is more fun and he can triple charge feather load :D
