Hello all,

I've been looking for a 9mm 1911 and other than STI and Norinco what other companies make them and what businesses sell them in Canada? I've been reading posts and checking out the EE but I figured I would ask you guys and take the heat of being a newb to gain some knowledge!

Para makes one,Dlask (Canadian) can build you one,Colt makes a beautiful one.
I have owned the STI ones and they are a great gun.

Kimber or Spring Frield too make 1911 in 9mm.

Ya well, asking questions is how one learns. Shocking isn't it?

To everyone else thanks for your posts i've been doing more research and have learned quite a lot!

Are the Armco (Gunnar) tuned Norinco's worth looking into? I've read so much about Norinco 1911's being everything from excellent to crap, does Gunnar's tuning make a big difference? The price is right but how does the quality compare?

Hey, it was all in jest.... :)

For lots of info on your question, all you have to do is use the "search this thread" button in this forum [on the toolbar at the top of the thread page]. There have been numerous 1911 9mm threads. You will likely find lots of info there... ;)

But on your question.... I have two Norinco NP29's [1911A1's] in 9mm. I'd say they are excellent. This compared to my Colt Combat Commander 9mm. And having owned ~ 100 different 1911's in ~ 30 years of owning 1911's.

A trip to Armco for Gunnar to work his magic is always good on any 1911.... ;)

I have two an STI Legacy which is great and a Dan Wesson Pointman 9 which is brand new and I have not shot yet. Can not wait to get to the range and compare them. They are both very well finished pistols.

I bought it on gunbroker and imported it with Daves Sports in Lyndon Washinton. It is avery nice pistol but not as high end as the Legacy was I paid 1029 on gunbroker and if you look at CZ website the PM9 retail is 1247 so I think I did well.

Four of my shooting buddies & myself own STI Trojan 9's & are very happy with them. The fit & finish are great.
