Status of the FNH SCAR 17S?

Highly unlikely that the US State Department would allow an export permit.

dont say that as we just simply don't know yet. Theyv'e let SR25s and various sporter FN guns in (PS90 and FS2000). It seems like lately the tide is changing, could be a phase.

FN Scar17S is not even out yet, so we will have to see until they are readily available. Should be within this year I believe.

It's marked as .308 Win. The Ranger adoption won't matter, look at all the ARs that flood out every day.

Anyhow if they would just sell the Swiss Arms in 7.62 I'd buy one.

SCAR 16S and 17S SIG SAPR

There are other SCAR threads. Check for them as most of this has been covered.

The RCMP currently have only the 16 and 17 in the FRT as prohibited. However, the 16S and 17S should come in as restricted (both have 16.25" so that in the USA they are not Class III). This follows other FNH USA products they have in the FRT like the P90 (prohibited) and the P90S (restricted). Apparently they are waiting for samples of each for testing.

The 17 has a 20" barrel option. If the 17S can have the barrel swapped to this 20" then it should be non-restricted. Have inquiry into FNH USA about this right now.

This week or next should have info on US DOS export status. Most likely yes but only if DSP-83 signed. Will update soon.

Lots of planets need to line up to get this in place but if it all comes together this would be a great moment for firearms owners in Canada.

In case anyone is not aware the The 16's are "A-OK" and coming to Canada ($3999 I believe)... 17 would be hot though!

never mind....fingers faster than brain

Heh.

DUCIMUS!

I was seriously looking at the SCAR 16 line, but I decided to go with the Classic Green Carbine instead becasue...
1). They were here.
2). Everybody I know who has one has said the Swiss rifles are the shiznit
3). The Swiss Arms are proven
4). They would be at least $1000.00 less than the SCAR.

So that begs the question Greentips, if the SCAR 16 is going for $4k, what makes you think the 17 will be less than the SAPR?

Good choice. The SCAR is for those that already have a Swiss Arms :D
