Any advice on whats the best non-restricted bullpup rifle available to Canadians? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thnx.

Bullpup rifles are not prohibited if the bullpup stock is an integral and required part of the operation of the rifle.

So, if a rifle can work in a non-bullpup stock, then a bullpup stock for that rifle is prohibited.

Example:

Type-97 is not prohibited (thus far) because it was designed as a bullpup and that's the only way it works. Non restricted thus far.

There are bullpup stocks available for the sks, but they are not _required_ to make the sks function. SKS can operate in a "regular stock", therefore, sks bullpup stocks are prohibited devices.

Stupid? Oh #### ya.

The best available is probably the Tavor, or the type 97.

somebody needs to update this thread with all the wonderful crap that is going on over the T97

apparently its classification is 'under review' and they are all in legal limbo right now

From what I was able to find out most of the FS2000's are brought in Restricted because the barrels are too short. There is a guy on GunNutz that says he can install a longer barrel and get it reclassified as Non-Restricted. Being able to go gopher shooting with an FS2000 would be awesome!!

meh....I don't know what it is, but I'm not a big fan of bullpups

True. There's people who've been waiting a year and half to get one of those. I was about to be one of them, but I'm not very patient. Instead, I went all out on an AR variant subcarbine and spent nearly triple what I had originally planned! xD

every time I find a new cool toy I want there has to be some BS law in my way. Criminals get all the cool ####.
