I was searching through the forums and couldn't find any chatter about the Kel-Tec SU-16 and was wondering if this was available in Canada or if the rifle was so crappy that no one here bothers with it.
I'm asking because I was looking at the Mini 14 (of which there's an abundant amount of information) and trying to compare it to the SU-16.
If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the input :) To bad though, the SU-16 did look promising (price, AR mags and looks) and would have been nice add to the collection.

Kel-Tec basically has said they don't need the headache of sending to Canada, while business is still quite good in the US....:(.....which is our loss, considering the points you rightfully mentioned.....

I have seen them when visiting the US and have to give them credit for inovation. I actually wouldn't mind one out of curiosity but I really wonder at quality.

The SU-16A has an 18.5" barrel and is 26.4" when folded.

Also they are NOT bad guns, they are very LIGHT guns, they are CHEAP guns, they are FUN guns.

However being a .223 and not terribly accurate they're not useful for much more than expensive pinking. You won't be making long shots on coyotes with it or shooting deer. Or at-least you'd better not be.

You can get a really nice Ruger 10/22 and tacticool it up for that price and save a bundle on ammo.

If you want a light weight rifle for some reason, it's not a bad choice, they're not inaccurate, they're just not tac drivers.

I'd take one over a Mini-14 any day. Unless it were a mini-14 target model.

Also if there is any question about accuracy, people use Kel-Tecs at Appleseeds and do just fine.

Also some Exporting FFLs provide gunsmithing services and can fit the 18.5" barrel to the SU-16C model.
