pistol training

I play Call of Duty and Rainbow Six, so i have combat experience in France, The middle east, Russia, Japan, Germany, Poland and Las Vages. I trained on pistols such as the 1911, Beretta m9, tokerev, Glock 18, Luger p08, walther p38 and many more.:p:);)

Fed gov't...it's almost embarrassing to admit.

I would say it would be great if it was twice a year, 5 times the shooting, and movement was involved, holster retention is good. I would like to see topics like tunnel vision, flight or fight, stress shooting, use of vehicles in a course of fire, etc.. covered more. (oh wait, I am at the farm now LLOL) no guns for me....:yingyang:

what is good about it is the accuracy, and the new toy!! boys up at DP love it.

So who offers the best pistol training?
S.E.A.L.s, R.C.M.P, gun fighters of the old west, military, armored car guards, video games, IPSC champs, John Woo films, the Matrix, a girl you hooked up with at a bar, or that ol'timer with one pistol that looks VERY well used?

The only training I've had has been what I've read on here and maybe a few YouTube videos. I'm finding, however, that my pistol shooting is still severely lacking. I don't suppose any one knows of any pistol shooting courses anywhere in NB? Heck, I'm so close, even Quebec would be all right as long as they can speak to me in english...

I try to get involved in as many matches and shoots as I can. I learn from my mistakes and soaking in the words of wisdom of the fellows that I meet along the way.

By shooting F-class, IPSC, Glock sponsered shoots and various tactical shotgun courses I have all learned from soldiers, police officers and others that I find are very knowledable. By keeping my mouth shut and listening more than talking I think that has been some of the best "training" I have ever recieved.

Best way I learn is by jumping in and doing it for myself. At first it is very ackward, but with practice, training and the right mindset you will see your skill level increase dramatically. Reading about all disciplines of shooting has also been very good and I think makes me a better shooter. Nothing makes up for trigger time.

That and MagPul videos.

The only "training" I've received which was more like tips or advice are from my grandfather. He's shot all his life, rifles and pistols (now84yrsold) has owned a vast collection over the years while also serving in Europe during WWII. I have learned to shoot from him! No official courses, training programs or anything other than some tips/advice and practice. I am no sharpshooter but the more I practice the tighter my groups get!

The best training ave this video, they give you a lot of hight value information. Just to look closely and listent

Amen to all of that..
Hopefully I'll have a price soon..

i followed US army marksmanship training book system, it's good for what it worth, posture, body positioning, hand location, aiming, sights adjustments.....better than nothing,it helped to get started.

then i took some lessons with a friend who is incidentaly a sniper teacher in val-cartier with 20 years under the bealt,3rd tour in afghanistan...this guy know the business zillion times than me, so i just followed his advices, not that they're realy trained big time on pistols, for them pistols are barely usefull sidearms but when i've seen what he was able to do at 30 meters with one hand, i took a deep breath and said '''eeeeeewww , i think i'm gonna put an adds and sell''', that was an eye opening experience and cant wait for our next session togheter.
