I know that if an air rifle is > than 500 fps that it has to be registered, and that < than 500 fps does not have to be registered but my question is ... Can it be registered even if it is less than 500 fps??? and if it can be registered what would the point be to do so???

Maybe, there are PAL rated models available in detuned condition for consumption by the masses. What would be the point in registering a sub500fps air rifle? No point.

There is no point. The police put scare tactics in advertising, like in toronto, you will not be persecuted if you register,so little old widows register all guns left behind by dead husbands because they don't know better and are scared of prosecution and the CFC obliges by registering even when not needed.

<500 fps

I was thinking that if you called the registry to register a "rifle" they ask specific questions on barrel length, cal. and I think action. they do not ask for the fps soooo one could get a sub 500 fps registered. Don't get me wrong here, I think there is no point to do this.
Just lookin' for some opinions :D

It sure can! I bought a used Diana 24 that was registered. This gun is advertised as a sub 500 fps, non-PAL airgun, so I don't know why it was registered. It needed work and chrono'd at a paltry 330fps. Since it was already registered, I had it tuned and brought up to 600 fps.

< 500 fps

This brings me to my next question. Can an air rifle that has been registered and is advertized and chrono'd less that 500 fps be DE REGEISTERED??? If not who would buy it knowing they could purchase the same or better without a PAL??
Things to ponder

go ahead and register it. once fees are charged you can have the pleasure of paying once a year to keep it.
then when the libs feel like it , they will know you have it so they can remove it.

then there is always the laffs when the swat team shows up cuz a zealous leo ran you on the registry during a parking violation.....

there are just sooooo many positives about registration.....

yes , I am being a sarcastic sob , but really ........
