Range question for stock 10/22

Please dont throw anything at me but what does MOA mean ?

Minute of angle. As it sounds, its an angular measurement. Like a circle divided into 360 degrees, each degree is divided into 60 minutes. The further out from the the radius of the circle, the greater the distance covered by a minute of angle. At 100 yards, it covers approximately 1". At twice the distance, one moa covers twice as much, so 2" at 200 yards. Scopes are typically adjusted by measurements of 1/4 moa (sometimes 1/8, 1/2 or even 1 moa). At 50 yards, 1 moa is 0.5". When a guy says his gun shoots 1 moa, that usually means out of all the times he's shot his rifle, once he fired two shots that were only 1" apart at 100 yards.:D

will have to try 75 and 100 hmm sounds interesting.

Once you start shooting .22lr past 100m then it gets to be a much more fun cartridge.

I've got some 3x5" steel plates made-up (same size as a pop-can) and I was slamming them at 200yds today. It was great fun, then we moved onto old fire alarm bells back at 280 and 295yds, a good 2 second wait for the *ping*!
Cheers,
Grant

What ammo were you using? Aftermarket barrel?

Shotting Fiocchi CRN (cheapish stuff) out of my factory Anschutz sporter barrel.

3x5" at 200yds is 2.5moa high by 1.5moa wide so it's not a terribly small target. That said the misses and hits were about even or maybe a few more misses once I was dialed in (18 MOA from 100yds).
I broke off one of the hanging wires and it started to rotate only exposing maybe 3/4" of the horizontal surface and the hits got less, but thats a pretty darn small target.

The alarm bells were probably 6-8" so really not small either, the wind does blow it around out there and I was forced to hold-over which is never accurate. Time for a base with more slope or a scope with more adjustment.

I'm sure in the right conditions I could ring those bells out to 400yds, but that would take a lot of adjustment.
Cheers,
Grant
