I took a look at these 2 rifles and the only difference between the 2 I can see is the jeweled bolt on the xcr, stainless vs blued and the sps had a DM is there something i'm missing here that warrents an almost 500.00 price difference?

The XCR definitely has a nicer stock, and it has a corrosion resistant coating on the barreled action.I don't see the X Mark Pro trigger listed for the SPS on the Remington site.

I own an XCR and have handled/shot SPS's a few times.

The XCR has a way better stock and has Remington's extreme corrosion resistant finish. They've also got the jeweled bolt and overall they have a noticeably smoother action.

Are they worth $500 more? Well only your budget can tell you that. Remington seems to consider the XCR on a whole other level than the SPS, but for many hunting purposes I'm not sure what effect it will have on your hunt.

I got an XCR because it came in the caliber I wanted (375 RUM) and also as a response to having nice wood/blue rifles getting marred up every hunt. I consider my XCR basically something that won't show any wear at all from weather or normal hunting use, and that I can count on to work on really bad conditions.

I have both. The XCR is stainless, has a much smoother finish, has the trynite corrosion coating as well, more comparable to the old BDL stainless models.

The triggers are both X-mark, and the factory stocks are both the same injection molded plastic, only the XCR has thin rubber grips. The SPS Stainless is another option, some have jewelled bolts, some are just polished, and the action/barrel finish is rougher to the touch.

Some SPS have florrplates, some have DM. XCR are floorplate only.

I had to go with the stainless XCR because it the standard stainless SPS didnt come in the 338 win mag calibre. The finish on the XCR is nicer as well.

I'm pretty sure the only difference is in the finish.
And chamberings of course.

The SPS and the XCR are throwaway stocks anyways. After you've salvaged the pad off of course.:D
I've given 7 of the SPS stocks away, yet some people still want $50-$100 for them.

I have a SPS stainless and it has a jeweled bolt and hinged floorplate. It has a rough finish on the SS that won't reflect light, but isn't very nice to look at. It's just fine for a workhorse, the XCR is a litlle nicer for more $$$. It's not a safe queen.
