.303 in .410

... I've never heard of doing that before. I thought this thread was about SMLE's converted into shotguns.

I have not had much luck getting the case to a cylindrical shape. Thicker rear portion doesn't form.
I have heard that .444 Marlin brass works, no fireforming required.

i seem to remember that a .45-70 will shoot a .410 shell, would it not be more feasable to attempt using a .45-70 in a .410? food for thought........

I fireformed some 303 brass to use in my SMLE 410 conversion.Use 3 gr.of Bullseye pistol powder, jam a wad of newsprint on top of powder, fill case almost to neck with oatmeal and jam more paper into case.Worked good for me with Win. brass although case life is short.I would cut a 410 cartridge open and use the components to load the brass.I had some tools to cut wads to put on top of shot and then a tool to slightly crimp end of case to hold charge in.

Some specs

Original 410 round.

If you had .410 ammo why would you be making shells from .303??? You are better off using either .444 Marlin or buying brass .410 shells from Midway/Wideners/Graf...

.410 for .303 enfiled is not the same as .410 Shot Shotgun Shells.

Case. The case was solid drawn with the head and rim measurements of the standard .303 inch
service case.
The case was straight-sided, the open mouth being turned over the ball projectile,
which was held in place by a case cannelure. The case length was SS.3mm (2.12").

Use .444 brass and buy oversize (.450) wads from "Track of the Wolf" or "Buffalo Arms". I've been doing it for a while now and they're much faster to reload then .410 hulls if your doing it without a press.

hi guys , question i know 45 colt fits a 410,has anybody used a 45/70 or a 45/90 in thier shotgun, i'am also looking for combonation o/u in 22/410 or 30/30 ,308,or30/06/410 something in $200-$3oo range l.o.l.

The one Enfield I've ever seen in .410 was at a gun show in Glendive Montana. I thought the guy was B.S.ing me. It had a Dominion of Canda proof stamp on the action, so that meant it was intended for prison service. That makes good sense.

I'd stick with trying to use .444 brass or 2 1/2 .410 rounds if they work.

The guy at the show wanted $125 for that gun. I was pissed off it he wouldn't sell it too me. I would have gone through the trouble of importing it.

Use 444 marlin brass.
The you don't need to do anything. It is the perfect size and length.
You can use your 444 marlin die set to deprime, resize brass, reprime.
You will need to use an overshot card and glue it in place. I use a hot melt glue gun. You can also use arrow fletching compound.
