The primary purpose of a firearm is as a weapon, for self defence. Look to the sucess of the CCW's in the US, and the "stand your ground laws" and "castle doctrine" that fall from it. This is an argument the antis can't get around, and the sooner we socialize the Canadian public to this idea the better.
Numbers are everything. Likewise, it is said that the world is run by the people who show up i.e. participate.
The more people use the AR in sport shooting the less likely it will be banned later.
If you have a restricted license and don't own an AR type rifle- buy one.
If you don't have a restricted license - get one. Then buy an AR type rifle right after you buy your first handgun.

I very much disagree, as long as firearms are portrayed as "sport" or "hobby" items we risk loosing them. They will not withstand the "if it saves one life" type campaigns from the antis if they are only owned for recreational purposes.
