What would you do?

This happened to my father quite a few years ago.
Guys parked right in front of him before first light and just ignored him.

He let them walk ahead of him and was standing up on a ridge and saw a buck sneaking back between the two fellows stomping through the bush.

A nice 5x6.
He left them a note on their truck thanking them for helping him get his deer.:D

Me, I would have flattened their tires and taken a dump on the hood of their truck

That's retarded...

Two of us were standing quietly on a hill looking down some powerline cuts, when 2 douchbags on quads proceeded to park 100' in front of us and have their lunch. They saw us but just didn't care. So we left.........but we did recognize the two guys and their quads from when they drove in and camped a half-click past our site. The next day we shot a moose, hung it, skinned it and drug all the hides down and left them right in front of their camp, just to show them how much we appreciated their good ethics!

I did a variation on your theme last year.....Openning morning and not a deer to be seen. I hunt private land and no one should be in my area. So around 10am I see an orange vest walking past me about 100 yards in front of my stand. I climb down the tree and go see who it is. Seems some long lost cousins-fathers-uncle-who had a puppy that was sold to an-aunts-sisters-brother-of the owner of the farm gave this dipsh!t permission to hunt the farm about 118 years ago. Now I only started hunting this farm last year and don't really know everyone in the family yet so I move along for the rest of the morning. At the time there was a family feud going on between the two owners of the farm and one wanted this guy gone and the other didn't. This year one owner bought out the other and we have no more problems. Anyways, I was a little pissed as I had prepared the area and this a$$wipe can walk around "my" area. So about an hour before the afternoon hunt I walked along one of the very popular deer runs that lead to the spot in question and about 200 yards from where he will be hunting I drop a big hot steamer right in the middle of the run. Let me tell you it was one of the most satisfying craps I ever took. :D

Committing criminal offences is such a good idea when dealing with this type of thing.

Makes you no better, if not worse than the other guy.

And in a case like the ones mentioned involving other hunters, you would likely never see a charge of interferring with a hunt laid.

Tampering with or disableing a persons vehicle in the bush is a dangerous game to play.

It could be argued depending on the circumstances that ^ could be attepted murder / manslaughter.

Justification of self defence?

I would tend to think that "First Come first serve" rule would apply..... dont be a sore looser just go else where

Best thing would be to pack up and walk away. One of the many reasons I refuse to hunt the pumpkin patch. Get off your butt and start making cold calls to local farmers. Offer to help out in exchange for hunting privileges. It is definitely worth the while. You get a friend and a place to hunt. What could be better than that?

10 years ago, if you would have asked the same question, my answer would have been the total opposite. Believe me, some mistakes are not worth making and learning from.

-Good luck!

Yup, there is deffinately a lot of this kind of thing going on. I had two guys walk into the middle of this meadow I was watching and sit down right in front of me ,right under the muzzle of my rifle about 50 yards off , this after the one guy glassed me with his binos. They knew I was there, I had my orange hat on, could not have missed me. Last year I had some goof with a bow park his noisey diesel truck not 10 feet off the old road near the little bowl I was watching walk almost right up to me, despite me yelling at him to go and find another spot 3 times. I was in full camo and I guess he could not see me, but still, you would think he would have got the point. Anyway, he continued walking right at me, so I pull my camo mask on and wait until he is like 30 feet from me and I let out a really loud " HEY! ! ! ".
He jumped like a scared rabbit and stated that he was going hunting right over the other ridge. I told him that is the ridge that I am covering and to leave or I would call the CO. He just kept on walking , not even caring that my rifle was positioned in that area. Pretty stupid.
What the hell is wrong with people these days??
Its like most people just don't give a sh!t about anyone else and the training that we have to go through just to be able to hold a hunting licence gets thrown right out the window once they get that licence. Crown land is crown land and everybody has the right to be on there , but whatever happened to ethics and safety? If I crawl into some spot and I find out that there is someone there already, I leave and find another spot. Common sense , right? Apparently there are some people that should not have that hunting licence, and the Hunter Training program should be changed as to be able to weed those people out.
I will be carrying a camera from now on, and I will use it to my advantage. Like say, if someone tries to move in on my spot and does not have the respect to move on and find a nother area to hunt, I will take pics and take them to the CO and tell him that this individual threatened me with physical harm and pointed his weapon at me or I caught him trespassing on private property, anything to get him/her in trouble with Johnny Law. I am fed up with the lack of respect and the thinking that some people have in that this is their" private " area and that just because they show up after you , you should move on.
If you want to be a pr*CK, YOU WILL GET TREATED LIKE ONE.
I'm done talking.

You would commit an offense and lie to a CO because someone else wanted to hunt the public land, too?

You sound like a guy who think s he is entitled to hunt all by himself on public land.

Maybe it's you that are the problem.

few years back while moose hunting.I was sitting in my spot when a truck drives by with a few people in it.They all wave and pass. When they returned they waved again drove about a hundred yards and stop at a bend in the road. One guy gets out and heads to the side of the road i'm on and sits don and takes off his orange so i can't see him.So i get on the radio and tell my partners about my ordeal.Oneof the guys in our camp walk pass this dude nd lets me know via the radio that theres someone sitting there. He explainded to buddy that i'm down the road not far and he could be in danger if i shoot that direction.Buddy says tell him not to shoot this way then.he tells me this over the radio so i tell him if a moose comes out in that direction and i start to shoot he better duck cause i cant see him.He stayed around for another twenty min. or so and left in a hurry

So ,,,, I'm the problem?? How did you arrive at that postulation? Like I said, I was there first and they knew I was there, they could not have beat me in there, I got first tracks and was in position , in plain view with an orange hat on. They walked into the middle of the meadow after glassing me with binos, they knew I was there first, yet I'm the guy with the problem??? How would you feel , Gatehouse, if I did that to you? You get your hairy @ss out of the fart sack at the crack of 4:00am , drive like a whiteman to the spot you want to hunt, get yourself into position and here comes daylight and yup there are a few deer out in front of you, and you are in plain sight and I walk out of the bush and proceed to camp out in front of you with no respect to the fact that I saw you in position and covering an area and were there before me. How would that sit in your craw?
Whatever happened to common courtesy ?? If I crawl into a spot and I find out that there is someone already in there, I leave and find other spots to hunt. I would expect the same from someone else , but apparently some people seem to think that they rule the roost and to hell with everyone else.

Likely I would be annoyed if someone did that, but that is the risk you take when you hunt on public land that is easily accessible. For all you know, those guys had hunted there many times, and they felt that *you* were in *their* spot.

It's pretty ironic that you complain about people treating public land as private, yet you do the exact same thing when you say that you feel justified to lie to a CO and say that a person threatened you, just because someone walked into *your* hunting spot.

a lot of guys treat public land like private hunting spots .if you are up a tree and i come along with my dogs hunting birds i will walk across the open feild i to got up early and drove to this spot to hunt and i paid my taxes as well .people going to tell tails to a co to get somone els in trouble or flaten tires comon guys
