I need a new duck gun. I am either going to get the stoeger 2000 in camo and 3" chamber or a remington/ baikal 453 synthetic with a 3.5" chamber. they both will have a 28" barrel. the stoeger comes with 5 chokes and the 453 comes with 4. I handled the 453 today and liked it. It fit relatively well. If i order the stoeger i will not get a chance to handle it before i buy it. It looks like a nice gun i camo tho. what do you guys think i should get? they will both cost me pretty much the same thing.

The Baikal all the way. I got one from EE, way less than elsewhere. It is marked Rem as well. Very happy and the thing shoots strait. A couple dealers had them. They may be hard to get right now but worth the wait. AJ

the gas system is adjustable.
one major warning on adjusting your gas system:
if your gun is ejecting the spent shells 20 feet, you are using much too high a setting
basically it should just be enough to cycle the action reliably, no more. so if you have your gas system adjusted for 2 3/4" light target loads, it would be wise to re-adjust it before you shoot 3.5" monsters or you may damage your gun/spring when the action repeatedly slams backward from the pressure.

Depends what you want the gun for. If it is just going to be a waterfowl gun then I would lean towards the 153 for its gas operation and additional weight (8-8 1/2 lbs??).
If you are looking for a Jack of all trades kinda gun then I would look at the Stoeger because it is an honest 7 lb gun.
If you had plans to go grouse/upland hunting the 153 is going to get heavy/slow real quick compared to the quick handling Stoeger.

I ended up going with neither of the guns listed in the pole. I have a 1986 browning a5 magnum with a 30" barrel on its way for Christmas. It comes in a leather browning case with all the original manuals and two chokes. It looks to be in brand new condition and was barely shot. I paid $600 and shipping
