Your thoughts on Brugger & Thomet TP9

Loved mine and miss it now that i sold it.The only reason i sold it was due to the 5 rnd max in mag. There is no reason why we couldnt have 10 rnd mags.

The factory stock is your problem.

On the flip-side, I love using ten-round Beretta 92 mags in my CX-4 Storm. :D

Have you noticed the difference between the Canadian and US model? The front fore grip is attached via piccatinny while the Cannuk is permanent. I wonder why that is?
Sometimes the rulings of the government remind me of an overprotective closed minded parent who groups ideas into a general category.
No chewing gum on this range!
I'll abide, but sheesh man, consider applying some digression!

Easily the coolest looking gun avalible in canada. I wish i had the cash or could save up the cash for one.And I do not care that it only has the five round and I go for the fake can over the tactical optics.

I ordered mine without the Aimpoint for $1950 as I already have an EOTech that I use on my AR15 and CZ858, I'll save the cash for night vision or something.
.

Good stuff! I had contacted Wolverine via email and all they gave me was a standard pdf with the Aimpoint bundled with no option to buy it without. I'm new to this and don't really know how this sight will benefit me or if I could just get a way with a cheaper alternative. After all this is just a range gun and it isn't like I would be hunting with it to justify the superior optics :) What are the other choices I have if I choose to cheap it out on the scope?

It has an integral top rail and low profile sights=any sight you want. I started with a Leapers red/green dot because I spent all my dough at the gun show. It worked great. Then later I tried Eotech that I had on my AR. I've even seen them with full size scopes.

The T1 is an awesome red dot sight. I have one on my Benelli M4 shotgun, and would recommend it for any application for any close to medium range applications.

Its very light and built like a tank. Also battery life is unmatched by ANY other brand of red-dot or holo sight. (50,000 hours on setting 8/12 which is good for bright indoor shooting)

ETA

Its a lot of money to get the T1, but that's also quite a bit of ammo to train or have fun with. I will say that the cheap NCstar sights like to fall apart quite quickly. My friend has a BRS99 and had the NCstar "holo" sight on it, and it fell apart after maybe 30-40 rounds.

I already have a T1, great sight, but I would still opt to go for the TP9 with AP as the deal is too good to pass up. If you dont want it, you should have no problems selling the sight afterwards.

on a side not, is the Fake suppresor plugged? Or can you actually shoot with it attached??

Not plugged, it's just an aluminum tube. You can shoot with it on. It's like a non-rifled barrel extension. It's pretty much for LCF, but the TP9 one has a rail on the bottom to mount lights/lasers. Offers no change in performance/ballistics.

I enjoy mine a lot too. Scary accurate with the help of my CompM4. Your right though, you do need a lot of mags to have some serious fun with it. I might run mine through a tac-rifle match next season. I'm a lot quicker and more accurate with it in CQB. Here's a pic for your viewing pleasure.

well seems pretty unanimous that the TP9 is a fantastic gun except for the 5 round mag  I'm going to pick one up shortly to keep my GLOCK company - thanks everybody for your thoughts. I'd still be interested in seeing other CGN'ers rigs though.

whoops, thanks for the correction Uberfiend... Is the TP9 fussy with the type of ammo you feed it like what I've heard about GLOCKS liking factory ammo and don't do well with reloads...

I've never found a glock that was fussy about reloads. I've shot reloads in all the glocks i've owned and found that my reloads are much more reliable and accurate. I think it's a myth.

A buddy of mine just got a tp9 and I was shooting reloads in his tp9 without issue.

The differences in the U.S. version are all about silly laws as well. Canadians are by no means the only people who have governments dicking around with their firearms.

The "standard" U.S. version of the TP9 is a "pistol". It has no shoulder stock and no foregrip. The presence of either would render it a "Short barreled rifle" under the National Firearms Act, possession of which is a federal felony without authorization by (and paying a tax to) the BATFE. You also need permission (in advance, by sending in a form) to transport an SBR across state lines, and some states do not allow you to possess these types of firearms at all.

It is roughly analogous to "non-restricted" vs. "restricted". The only way to avoid the SBR thing is to have a barrel 16" or longer, or an overall length of 26" or longer - or get it classified as a "pistol". It is the same reason why the vast majority of "M4"-type AR's in the States have 16" barrels, and why AR pistols have no stock and no foregrip - and companies like RRA and CMMG have tons of warnings in their literature about putting stocks on pistols.

On the TP9, when I first shouldered one, my first thoughts were.. "Wow, this is small". If you don't have the opportunity to shoulder one before buying... think "pistol with folding stock" not "MP5-type thing". The TP9 is very cool, but it is very small, and very light.

For this type of firearm, I decided to go with a RRA 7" 9mm pistol, which we are able to put stocks and foregrips on to our heart's content. It is definitely a bigger, heavier firearm - but for my money it feels more "substantial" - plus you can get 10 round mags and a much wider selection of accessories. Having said that, I'd still love to add a TP9 to my collection.

Here are some pictures of my 9mm. These are unfortunately pretty hard to find right now. These are all the same gun. Current incarnation is on the bottom and in the video.

I have had a TP9 for a few years now. Initial reaction was the detail and accuracy of this carbine especially with an Eotech. I would prefer a T1 Micro as it seems to be the best fit. The Eotech is a little too high for me.

The 5 round capacity sucks - but Ive been surrounded by people with 9mm AR failures. I have my TP9 perpetually available as a trade considering that the HERA Glock kit (will evenyually) be readily available for the G17. That or a Tan TP9 ;)

Dont get your hopes up for that deal to go through :p

Been a few weeks now and no word from Wolverine or HERA.....

I really REALLY wish they had a TP9 in .45 :(

Limited mag cap may have upside...

The limited mag capacity implies the TP9 is considered a restricted "rifle" by classification.

Does this mean it could be re-barreled and unrestricted? (Nevemind how silly it would look with an 18.5" barrel...)

Anyone want to try?

Nice looking conversion for the GLOCK, still I think I like the TP9 overall.

Well, mine arrived yesterday. I took it apart about 20 times by now and feel I now know it fairly intimately, call it a phycosis. I could now field strip it in the dark, but like that will ever happen. The 5 rounds bothers me, but until I buy an island and start my own government, I'll get by. I do wish it had the removable foregrip so I could swap it to my AR or CZ, but oh well.
I want to thank Ghostie for the information, now I know the government is made up of the most inteligent, highly trained monkeys we could gather.
