Can someone help me identify? Was in Larose Forest. WMU 65/ Eastern Ontario.

Scat near beaver pond. No toilet paper in it, I put the shell beside to show size of s**t pile.

Couple hundred yards up the creek that is running into the beaver pond. Did a buck do this?

Beside the scraped saplings, this. It's a divot, the picture doesn't show it well but the hole has a few leaves sitting in it. The turf at the top of the picture has been tossed out. I didn't sniff it for pee.

I'm not a deer hunter but might be next year :)

Are these deer signs?

From the first pic, I would say that it's a pile of moose droppings. Kinda like he has a bowel condition though...

2nd pic....yes, that's a buck rub. You should be able to follow where it's been. If the buck is young, he might be doing this every 50 yards or so. If it's a mature buck, he will have a rub line that he's used for several years and every 100 yards or so.

3rd pic. Almost looks like a buck scrape. Was this done under an overhanging branch? If so how high was it over the scrape? Higher the branch, the bigger the buck (generally). Again, hard to tell.

1. Rained all day yesterday, might have had an impact on the poop's appearance.
2. Excellent, may this be a good spot to stake out next season if I get a tag?
3. This is 15 feet from the rub. No tree overtop, don't moose make a hole like this and piss in it to attract #####es, ahem er cows?

Larose forest is only 45 mins from me. Been there many many times, no apple trees that I've seen yet. Done deer, moose and coyote there.

Might be a descent spot, but, (always a but) if it's an immature buck, he'll do that every time his antler hit a tree! All horned up and no doe to do!

The moose piss in a hoofprint thing is a new one for me. Never heard of that one. Not saying it isn't true, just that I've never heard it.

EDIT: What concession is this off of? From your description of the beaver pond, you're near concession 10, about 3/4 of a km up the main trail... If it's near a residential area, someone might be feeding the deer but, it's an awfull big pile for a deer.

Looks like moose poop to me. Thats what it looks like in the summer when their diet is soft, tender, new growth. Must be eating sometyhing soft with high water content in it now. It gets the classic pellet shape as the plant matter it consumes becomes more fibrous later in the year.

B;asted, right now in our area the ferns are starting to get to fiddlehead size again and the wild garlic are visible if you push away the leaves. In the swamp where I normally hunt, the weed matter hasn't died off yet.

Yes, moose. Good for putting the shell, presume 12 gauge, for comparison. As has been said, when moose are eating certain food, it can look like that.

Buckhunter - I was on Gagnon trail, near the culvert. Opposite side of the main road from the concessions. Not near residential, doubt anyone is feeding the wildlife but you never know. Sounds like the concensus is that it's a moose poop. Neat, I didn't think that there really were moose in the area.

that could be deer scat no? I've seen big piles like that and no moose around here. Has a lot to do with their diet that produces piles like that. Always seen moose scat as bit pellets the size of loonies. I'd say its a big buck scat and big buck rubs!

I worked in the Rockland - Casselman area in the 70's and there were moose in Larose Forest then. In fact a nice bull found his way into a fenced school yard in Clarence Creek and couldn't find his way out. He got so agitated and out of control we had to shoot it.

I have no idea if that is moose or deer, but moose do dig out a pit to attract females. From the picture it looks too small, but that may just be the angle. They urinate in the pit and then roll around in it to get the scent, the pits that I have see have been a little wider
