Just wondering if anyone has had good luck with these or are they all having problems. There's a recall on them and Remington is only offering 200.00 for them back. Just wondering if you decide to keep it, will they keep fixing any problems that they are having until it's solved.

there is an issue with semi-auto 17 HMR and the pressure curve of the round upon firing
basically the case may rupture
i had one, i worked great, i had 3 ruptures over its life then the recall happened, Gravel sent me a 597 VTR as a replacement at my request

yeah that was the problem that worried me, replace my more expensive semi with a bolt action, no thanks! From what I read they were destroying the actions and even the clips. If they were recalling the rifle, they should offer the same rifle or a full refund because some might not return because of the lower offer and less money for return and end up getting hurt.

straight trade at my suggestion, i was on the phone/email to them the day of the announcement
they were waiting for some kind of feedback from the USA and once that was finalized they contacted me and i suggested that trade, nothing else was mentioned and i was happy with result
my first concern was that the USAians were getting 250$ for their rifles and i paid 450+
