Hope I'm posting this in the correct forum (i.e. precision).

Won't find out for a couple of weeks when I can get out and give'r a whirl.

Consensus seems to be 44gr Varget w/ Sierra 168gr HPBT as a good starting point.

I'll keep you posted.

Remember that every rifle has its own tastes so picking one load may not yield the best results.

Also, as much as it pains me to say, the accustock was a great idea that kind of got lost in the production shuffle.

It definitely needs to be bedded properly.

I am sure you can get it shooting around 1/2 min with some tuning and load work up. The brake is supposed to be very effective. If you get ambitious, opening up the size of the exit ports will only make the brake better.

It is a little thick but I had the 3200 fixed 10x on my 700 sps tactical and I shot pretty well with that. Overall I would give it a 7.5/10. For the price I would give it a 9/10.
 
Practicing in my basement, I notice that I need a face lift. Anyone have recommendations on a cheek rest I could use with the Accustock without drilling holes in it.
 
I have the same optics and have moved it from a few guns. It currently sits on a 22lr.

I found the crosshairs on the thick side. It is a great scope and very clear and tracks perfectly. As far as the thickness it is not a benchrest/competition scope. At 200 yards it completely covers up a shotgun shell, but still good enough to blow up gophers or shoot good groups. I used it out to 650 yards once and found it manageable.
 
Did you ever have troubles keeping the crosshairs and the target in focus at the same time at any distances or zoom levels. My eyes are getting pretty bad close up so I didn't know if it was the scope or my eyes. From what I recall it happened at 25 yards when I had it mounted on my cz452 .22 (not that the gun was important but I thought I'd throw that in).

Try 45grain Varget with 168grain BTHP Sierra or Nosler, also try 45grain of BC-2, I had great success with those load on my savage 10.

The average group size was .802.

I manually mapped out all the shots onto a single target by hand (I didn't count the cold bore shot.), and determined that the entire group size for all 36 shots was 1.100 inches.

The gun was stock except for the addition of the scope. I had it out to the range once before this, but only to break in the barrel with a couple of boxes of factory ammo.

I am pretty new to reloading and have had only minor successes in the past. For me this was a very good outing and I was quite pleased to say the least.

Questions, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated.
 
It was a good start :D, but I'd say try your load development at 300yds if you can get a nice calm day. 100yds isn't going to give you an accurate picture of what the round will do downrange.
 
Have you bedded this rifle yet? If not it will defiantly help with those flyer's. 42.9gr is looking promising. Another bullet to try is the 155gr BTHP lapua scenar they work great even better then the sierra 168gr BTHP if your planing on shooting a little distance.

nice gun Mhouser, i have the exact same thing in .223. why dont you want to drill the stock? you can patch it up and repaint the stock later but i think it will add value to the gun. i just got an adjustable cheek piece from karsten. The buttstock is a bit low even for 40mm scope, i have a 56mm so it def helps. ill try to get you some pics later if u want to see it

Agreed! I have found that good results at 100 yards can quickly turn sour at 300+ yards. I now do my load developement at 200 yards minimum! Once I have something that works well at extended ranges, I will shoot a group at 100 to see how it looks.
