There are ways to put the whiting back on by artificial means.

Thank you Gentlemen, yes the white is crayon that I put on, basically for photography and display purposes.

Got lucky with this matching Port 98. I sold one a year or so back in near mint condition, so when this popped up I grabbed it. This one shows some honest use, but I feel fortunate to have it. Thanks again Gentlemen.

I am telling myself it was one of the several that the Germans kept and used for their own forces, but who knows? I can trace the owners back to about 30 years ago, and that's about it. Thanks Gentlemen

but...a gun with all original,verifiable,authentic whiting with a letter of provenance is worth...like...a buh-zillion drakmars...
