I had 4 gremlin failures in 80 rounds

Good thing they move slow.

I got one of marstars 1st vz58s years ago

it would fail to eject every other shot

sent it back and they could not fix it so being marstar sent me a new rifle ZERO problems with the new one...

I decided that for a new rifle out of the box the problem was not one I should have to live with, and since it was such a regular problem I don't feel that I should have to live with that.

I've sent it back to the dealer requesting a new one, they said 'whatever it takes' to make me happy so I fully expect that it will be properly resolved shortly.

Thanks to all for the helpful information and offers to weld the bolt.

UPDATE Nov 23 2009

UPDATE NOVEMBER 23 2009

As you know I sent my first rifle back to the retailer because it just wasn’t working. There were several ‘issues’ that bothered me; two I could live with but the terrible gremlin was just too much to take in such a great rifle.

In the past I would have accepted the rifle after it was fixed but in this case something just told me it wasn’t up to par and I didn’t want it back.

My gut instinct told me the first rifle was not up to the regular standard and had slipped past the CZ Quality Control staff. The mags looked well used and worn and one mag was even missing a chunk out of the feed lips, the leather was old and stained and the rifle buttstock was slightly warped.

I asked for a replacement rifle, the retailer had said ‘whatever it takes’ so I was hopeful. Well I didn’t have to worry at all, Ed at Moving Target sent me out a replacement rifle without hesitating, that is totally awesome customer service! :)

When the new rifle arrived I opened it hoping my hunch had been right, and boy was it ever. The new rifle's leather pouches and mags are new looking and the rifle just looks and feels better overall.

I was happy until I looked at the test target, then I was shocked and floored! :D Now I know what people mean by an accurate rifle. The old rifle’s test target had the maximum number of allowed test rounds indicating they had to shoot and shoot to just get it to barely meet the accuracy standard.

The new rifle target has somewhere between 6 and 8 test rounds (I think but can’t tell for sure), the first 3 round group is 5/8" in size and about an inch to the left. After the sight was adjusted there were 3 (or 4 or 5?) rounds fired into one hole 3/8” in size! I kid you not, the largest outside diameter is less than 5/8" and I can cover it with a dime....that is accurate!!!! :D:D

All in all I am completely satisfied with how things turned out. I want to specifically acknowledge the customer support by the retailer, I am beyond impressed with the service I received from Ed at Moving Target Sports for providing top notch customer service and satisfaction.

Thanks Ed.

FWIW I had the gremlin. I went to replace the sear with a longer one (was told that would fix the problem) only I couldn't get it out... I beat the hell out of that lil pin to no avail. I finally gave up and put it back togeather...funny thing is...gremlin never came back <shrug> I beat it into submission. And I love this gun! I will be getting a 58 to sit beside my 858 as soon as I can.

LOL,
Glad to hear yours worked itself out ;)

I hear some people do have it creep in from time to time, adn if it was only a couple or a few I would have lived with it. Unfortunately it happened about 1 in 8 rounds and that was not acceptable level to anyone who knew these rifles.

Cheers
