Hello from Calgary

Hey everyone,

Still fairly new to the site, joined to try learn more about firearms and sport shooting. Sent my license application off last week. Hopefully it gets here soon. I heard there was an online tracking system, but I have not been able to find it. Anyone know what the URL is? Or where I could find it on the google?

So does anyone have any advice for me on any good gun shops around Calgary, or any good shooting ranges?
I'm fairly interested in old miltary rifles (M1, Mosin Nagant, Lee Enfield, ect), and would prefer to shoot outdoors (and long range) if that makes any difference.

Best place to find milsurps is here on this forum. You have to gain accses to the EE. There are also a few sites online. As for stores in Calgary. Wholesale or Bass Pro will have a good selection on new rifles. TSE, Alberta tactical and Proline shooters are all worth checking out. Proline (in inglewood there is a big sign that says gun shop) has the odd interesting milsurp go through. Some of them are junk though. Google PS militaria for a site with tonnes of milsurps.

I have to agree with Cam1963, the best surplus guns I have, were aquired through CGN.

Welcome to the CGM group, it is nice to see fellow Calgarians here.

Hey Sheepdog, check out www.wolfandsheepdog.com , you will probably find it interesting.

Welcome to the forum. Now check out the banners and join the CSSA/NFA. They're the only voice we have in ensuring you're able to continue enjoying your newfound sport.

Wow. Pretty good Calgary turnout. Good job YYC. I'll definitely check out that book, I remember reading an article written with the wolf/sheepdog/sheep setup. Also, I will check out the CSSA and the NFA.

Thanks for all the warm welcome, guys.
