Recently I have been looking at the Mosin Nagant repro snipers that a few of the sponsors have to offer, I am just wondering are they worth the money? how is the quality of the optics/mounts etc? Do they hold a decent zero? How are the rifles themselves?

Thanks

Yes, they are a great thing to shoot. I have built a few myself and the overall cost to buy one made up (if you cannot do it your self) is a fair value.

Try clicking on the links above. I have bought from TradEx, Epps and a few others but look and see what they have to offer. What province are you in?

Pete

HI, I have an original 91/30 PU sniper with scope. I have seen the repros out there, and personally I think they are a very nice representation of a great sniper rifle. Very nicely done. Buy one and enjoy:) JMHO!

excellent, sounds like the next purchase! Just curious, whats an original 91/30 sniper rifle go for? the PU model? Im sure I cant afford one, just curious

There is a real one in the milsurp section at marstar, it says sold at $1,300, that's about right for a real one with matching numbers. I have seen the repros offered between $675 and 800. The scopes and mounts are real ones on the repros, $300 to 400 US on ebay alone, add the cost for cutting out the stock and drilling/taping the mount plus a bent bolt ($50 to 100), then the cost of a rifle. It really depends if you can do the work yourself, I decided to buy one which was already built here on the EE.

The mounts and scopes hold zero as they are bolted to the rifle receiver. Adjustment is a bit tricky but I love those scopes and the look.

"The scopes and mounts are real ones on the repros"

No, the scopes & mounts are also recently made repros. On the plus side, the scopes are made at the same Factory that made them in WW2.

As far as I know there are different kind of scopes, some are new repros made of aluminum, others are made of steel which are original surplus.

They all look kind of similar.

Yes there are different types of Repro scopes and a few original ones floating around. The scopes on the repro snipers are steel, but also newly manufactured with fake markings.

Sometimes you get lucky on ebay, seller starts a .99 and goes up.... no bids you win...

I would like those ebay auction numbers, even at no reserve, prices are not much lower than buy it now auctions. Plus shipping costs, (FRAUD ALERT) costs. possible US$ conversion etc.

Anyway, I know that great prices are possible, ebay just isn`t necessarily the place for it as there is such great demand for the sniper parts these days.

Some of the stuff is also just cheap, I read some feedbacks for some of the Russian sellers on ebay and often they sell `nice looking`junk.

I have been on ebay for over 10 years now and nothing is the way it seems, especially on low priced stuff.

TAH-DAH!

zefarm.net/productView.php?id=2374&cat_id=2 (add the www as they're not a sponsor)

There is one and only one at $675.00. Apparently brought in on a strong dollar.

It can be done for <$800.00...
