I like making them out of either the wood around with plywood for the floor or like we did A few years ago we got a good deal on some rough lumber and built three of them at the moose camp. This year I have some left over pressure threated stuff and Im going to be updating another since that one if over 10 years old and was built with the wood/trees around it. Its more work to build like that than to install a portable or to use a climber but I find more satisfying. (and usually cheaper).

This is what I am working on. It is only the base. The whole reason behind this is so I can take my kids. They can fidget all they want and I can keep a little heater inside for when they get cold.

I use a two man ( room for my big arse ) ameristep and really like it. I have been using this stand for two years now. However, I think I must be doing something wrong. I see deer from it but haven't shot a deer from it. I've taken two deer while still hunting from it going back to the truck after sitting. Both deer were shot within 200 yards of it at a range of under 30M.

This stand is working awesome as a decoy:D

I have a Gorilla King-Kong hang on stand. Its damn comfy and I can carry it into my spot with one hand no problem, don't know the actual weight though. I just want to pick up a shooting rail that goes around to rest my rifle on, and maybe put something to break the wind. Its kind of a pain shooting off hand when you're sitting up a tree and the wind starts to blow.
