7mm Fatso....is it worth the trouble?

Basically a short mag made off of 416 Rigby case.

Claims 3200 fps for a 7mm 160gr bullet. That exceeds 7mm Lazzeroni Short Mag.

It's based on the 338 Lapua Magnum, and if short is good, of course shorter is better. When will we see a 1.5" 7mm based on the 50BMG?

It sells magainzes, but what hole does it fill? If one must have those velocities, the 7mm STW has been around along time. It's obviously for very long shots, so why the need for a short action - a short quick handling gun? With that kind of recoil, you don't want a light gun.

Probably a lot of fun... if you are able to change out your barrel every thousand rounds... go for it! Barrel throat wear is probably quite extreme.

My 7mmstws produce more velocity,and one of them still shoots 1/2 moa or better with over 1500 rounds fired.

How about this 50 BMG necked down to .22? I wonder what velocity this is getting?

How about this quote for a .17/.50 BMG....

No.

3200fps with a 26" barrel is not even close to being worth the hassle, not to mention the cost of .338 Lapua brass. You can get 3100fps from a plain old 7mm RM with 160s and a 26" barrel.

Id say not worth the hassle messing around with expensive brass. I better that with my 7 STW and I buy cases over the counter .
