Siam 3006 conversion?

man that didnt take long. you got it.
it doesnt add up tho, the mum isnt cancelled, and its not from one of the 2 known factorys that did them. all the markings are correct , and all that however. barrel length isnt quiet right, supposed to be 24 1/2" and its 24.
talked to some very in the know siam collectors, and they all scratching there head

Bought my 1st Arisaka Type 99 today, and all I could think of was: 'Mine doesn't look like that!' It looks like it only has an aviation sight on one side. Optical illusion? Why'd they ditch the dust cover?:D
Thanks for the show & tell. Here I just thought you bought a really F'up'd rifle!:p
I'm going to Subscribed to this one to find out more...

I asked my girlfriend, who can read and write both Chinese and Japanese, to have a look at it.

The characters below the Chrysanthemum say "38" in both Chinese/Japanese. The character that is partially cut away means "style". Translation would be "Type 38".

The characters above the Chrysanthemum are not Chinese or Japanese. She thinks it could be "Indian". Thai is probably a good bet.

Japanese Type 38 rifle:

Article notes that there was limited use of these by Thailand, among many other countries.

Any gunnutz read/write Thai?

The half circle cut milled into the receiver ring may indicate conversion to another calibre - .30-06?

Similar thing was done with Norwegian K98s wasn't it?

Strongest bolt action of WWII. You won't blow it up.
