Why No Bounty for Coyote's in Ontario?

You can skin them, its not hard. You might find a local trapper that will give you a couple bucks for a green hide.

If you want to sell them at auction you need to flesh it and board it till dry. Then you can ship to one of the auction houses. (There may be a fur pick up route in your area http://www.furharvesters.com/cdnpickups.htm)



The mange is quite thick in the yotes right now in the meaford area. Seen a few 'poodles' around.
 
It is very simple why no bounties - because it is illegal!

Check Ontario Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act - Section 11:
Hunting or trapping for gain

11. (1) Except with the authorization of the Minister, a person shall not,

(a) hunt for hire, gain or the expectation of gain;

(b) hire, employ or induce another person to hunt for gain;

(c) trap for hire, gain or the expectation of gain;

(d) hire, employ or induce another person to trap for gain; or

(e) pay or accept a bounty.

WOW! Those Ivory Tower types who make up the Ontario hunting regulations just do not like hunters!

You do know that if there was a provincial bounty, as in Saskatchewan, it would come with the "authorization of the Minister", right? This Section 11 provision is for privately offered bounties. ;)
 
I have heard it twice now on the radio and in two different counties in Ontario the MNR confirming the coyote population is out of control and has OVER doubled since this time last year.....in some areas they have been comin right into yards and taking pets. The yotes are getting so brazen they are going after peoples pets while they are standing right there. If there was ever a time to give hunters an encentive to kill these buggars its now.....or I guess we could release wolves to take care of them we all know how the mnr likes creating one problem to solve another.

Not correct.. you only need to purchase a tag ahead of time (limit 2 per hunter).. for WMUs 1A, 1C, 1D, 2-42, 46-50 and 53-58. other then that it's and open season.. (In WMUs 43-45 and 59-95, only a small game licence is required.)

I was deer hunting in the area this year and bought a yote tag so I could bag one if I saw it..
 
Unless you have a bounty worth while...IMO say 75-100$ people will not search the woods for them anymore than they already do. I would think as deer numbers decline so will the yotes as they will have less to prey on. I still have no use for them as they snatch up more than just deer. My 223 is loaded everytime I go into the woods

I suggest you read the regs............there are areas that are always closed regardless . Your tag is NFG in those areas.

I live less than a mile north of the cut-off line for coyote/wolf hunting................but you are welcome to argue your point in court.
