Does anyone have a suggestions as to a TOUGH satin clear coat after stock painting??i used some type of spar finish years ago and it was very durable but i can't remember the name of it.

Best stuff I know of would come from the automotive stuff. 2 part catalysed clear coats will get the job done.

PM Cyan1de. He has done some spraying and his results were excellent. He should know what is the right stuff to use.

Like Jerry said automotive Two part urtane clear, If you go to UAP they usually deal with "Dupont" and they should be able to help you out with a clear and a flatner to add to it as there are different degrees of flatness and you will have to chose the one that suits you(they will have a color chip book for reference) so you can see, Hope this helps you out if you have any questions maybe I can help you out as I am a body man. cheers matt

As mentioned already the two part catalyzed urethane enamels can be excellent. They aren't cheap, but they are hard and durable. Normally they are high gloss. To make a satin finish the painter has to add flattening agent. It is mixed with the paint and kills the gloss. More flattening agent = less gloss.

X2 for CyaN1de. He rocks....

Check out mine done with 5 coats of auto clear coat...

Stock and hardware are Carl Bernosky

thanks.

reason I ask is because I see it has two locking screws for the shaft, rather than the single one on the Tubb hardware. I hate haveing to tighten the bejeezus out of the one screw to make sure it stays put
