Has anyone heard of this thing? It's a sub-machine gun casing for a glock 9mm. You place the pistol inside the casing and it becomes a rifle of sorts. They say it tranforms it into an assault rifle, but I say it's more like an SMG.

I stumbled accross this while looking at new items at FabSports website for $550 canadian. I then looked it up on the net and found it at CAA Tacticals site. There is a cool video and at the end it lists all the other models of pistols that are to follow.
I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this as I don't see mention of it by anyone, but seeing as it is going to be on the Canadian market I can't see that I am.

?? Which one??

I say it is None of those. It is a pistol with a bunch of plastic on it.

Go buy a Beretta CX4.

Since it is a pistol....there is a thread in the pistol section.
As you can see, no one cares.

Well, thanks for the opinion...
I don't disagree, but the fact is that it's not too different than the TP9. Barrel length does not change (same basic length as the TP9), just the pistol can be held more steady as with a SMG. The CX4 is like a long barrel pistol that can be held steadier and therefore would be the better choice. I just thought I'd point out that it is a unique concept that I thought I'd share. Sorry I dissapointed you with the thread.

Everything disappoints rivet in his quest to prove his superior knowledge and finely tuned intellect - he is kind of a wet blanket and I wouldn't pay him any attention.

Fabsport started listing those a few weeks ago, at $550 a pop you might as well buy another gun.

At $550 I'll throw it in a safe with my other equipment, if I forget it's there for a year, I'll be alright. My pistols cost around $1200 and my TP9 cost over $2000. Considering what my AR cost to furnish let alone my other assault rifles, $550 is pretty cheap as far as I'm concerned and it would be like having another weapon... almost. I think it is a neat concept, but it is bulky and looks like a fusion rifle from Halo or something. I was just looking for some opinions, not saying it's the new best thing out there or anything.

Unless your firearms are select fire, they do not qualify for the "assault rifle" classification... Less media, more reality.

As for the cost, why waste $550 dollars on a useless piece of plastic when you could put that towards actually shooting your firearms and improving your skills? Oh wait, what was I thinking. This is CGN, expensive collections and infrequent range trips are the norm. Carry on.....

Correct, they are not select fire, the point was the cost, but I agree that a plastic cover might not be a worth while venture. Just looking for peoples opinion.

Thats actually about the same price as the HERA kit, Im surprised since CAA stuff is usually a bit more affordable.

Doesn't mean anything though since we still cant get any HERA stuff up here :p

Given todays gun climate having more options in Canada is a good thing.
Excercising the option is another thing.
Anything that results in more lead being put downrange, in my books, is a good thing.

I get enough flak from the "anti's" without having to hear the same from people on proported "pro firearm forums". Since when did we need any of these toys that don't add any "value" to our lives.
