Hi !
45 + P in a Norinco...
First my Norinco 1911 is on the side of a Colt Gold Cup National Match S.S. (beautifull, but honestly, a real piece of s**t...) and my well loved SKW 1911 DK (nice gun)...
I will tell you 3 points in favor of your 1911.
1- If you do a web research on the 45 super and the 460 Rowland, you will possibly find two websites of American companies offering almost magnum level convertion for the venerable 1911. One is Ace...something (I forgot the complete name) for the 45 super and the other is the wellknow Ed Brown for the 460 Rowland. They have the listing of 1911 suitable for their conversion work. Norinco is there, on the side of Springfield, Kimber and Colt....
2- It is not a reference because you have a lot of false things ont the Internet, but there is somwere a metalurgic analysis of the steel used ont the Norinco 1911. Supposed the Chineese steel used is stronger and harder than our ordonance steel 4140 and 4340...
3- The famous US gunsmith King, one of the first to create custom parts for the 1911, at one time used the Norinco as a basis for their custom 1911 (when it was possible for the Norinco to cross the American border). I remember an article in the 90's where someom at the King said that the Norinco stell is hard on the endmills and cutting bits.
Personally, I would use +P in my Norinco anytime. I suggest you to add a rubber buffer to protect you frame and a stronger mainsrping from Wolff Springs.
I wish to have provided you some help.
