Yes they would. Not everything Magpul produces or preaches is gold. For the uninformed, it makes no difference. Magpul is in vogue so all Magpul label gear must be the best and improve your performance.
The AVG has merit, but I see it as a personal taste thing over running a standard vert grip and applying the "high hold". Sight alignment, trigger squeeze and follow through are far more important than how or what you use to support your rifle.

Wow. That is a total Chris Costa special. I wouldn't get one for myself because I am set in my ways for how I hold my rifle. But I can think of a couple of friends who I'd give this to for Xmas. They totally swear by the Costa hold and this would really make their day.
You have your opinion, I got mine. I suspect that if these conversations were face to face, there would be a lot more closed mouths. Voice your opinion, leave your internet-tough guy BS somewhere else. If not, then get some sort of code by which you could be recognized (i.e. certain colour hat, special handshake, etc.) at the next gun show and once you all have a stomach full of bloody Chiclets, we can carry on like adults. Cool? Cool.
Back on the topic, that new Magpul thingy is not for me-too specific. My hand works just fine on a VG or a regular fore end. Although I did put a nice magwell grip from Fab on my 7.5" that I like. Whatever blows your skirt up I guess.
