I've run into a few debates on how to break in an Armalite. I've got an Armalite carbine 16" and the instructions I read were to break it in slow, cleaning it after every round and then every few rounds until I've shot a few hundred. I've also heard that this is overboard and that you don't need to be quite that meticulous. I'm looking for anyone’s experience with such and opinions on whether this is necessary or not.
Thanks.

I just shot mine till it got nice and hot and I ran out of ammo. Its been fineever since. Its an AR, you can beat on it abit you know. :)

The "breaking in" is a scam by gun stores to sell you more cleaning supplies. Keep her wet and start ripping into the ammo box.

I think it's high time we discussed lubricants. Wet or dry, is there a difference?

What kind of dry lubricants are there?
And thanks guys, I've had so many different opinions on how to break them in, some say just shoot it and some say clean, clean clean!
So far it looks like "just shoot it and be happy", so thank you for the input.

By the way, I use amsoil MP to do an all in one as my gunsmith does.

I use whatever I can find .... Militec, CLP, Hoppe's Gun oil (from Walmart and Ukrainian Tire), just use lots of it and practice lots! :D

Yeah, on the break in process for AR barrels, I just shoot them and clean 'em. I cannot hold that AR steady enough to punch 3/4" groups. 1" to 1.25" are my norm on the bench with a casual sandbag setup. :D
