How much interest in a Canadian limited edition Ruger No.1?

Why don't you use a true Canadian Caliber if that is what you are going for Like a 280 Ross or a 22 or 25 epps

I think the .303 would have a chance to be marketable. The .280 Ross or the like would strictly be a reloading proposal and turn a lot of potential buyers off of the idea. As a commemorative, Think the .303 is a pretty good representation. May also have interest with other 'Commonwealth' countries as well....

I think the logistics of this would price this rifle right out of most shooter's pocketbook. The time & effort to get all these things lined up together to produce a rifle in this decade would be very costly. I have had fairly simple custom rifles built that took well over a year and a half to have completed. I think this would be an absolute nightmare to try & take on in any quantity. But it is an option just the same. I think I'd try this route first...

A good CNC shop can do amazing things in large quantities, and all Rugar would have to do is ream out the .303 etc chambers and barrels...everything else is already done.

Case in point...

for what its worth, i think it should be a cartridge that is accessible to the average shooter. some of you guys really seem to know quite a bit about loading and smithing, and if you have the ability to make or modify your own cases, power to you, but i think you will be seriously limiting the market for a venture like this, and taking away the appeal for a lot of potential buyers(myself included), when it might already be tough to fill a minimum order in the first place.

Sorry, I'm not counting it out. Just that stocks & engravers were mentioned as well. I still think if possible, the Ruger/ Lipsey's way might be a lot cheaper...

OK, spoke with my lipseys rep. He said it is doable. Ruger wants 250 ordered but Lipseys said they could sell 50 down there , no problem. So, the ball is in our court now. 200 deposits and the order goes in. :)

so what model will it be? please say 1A.

Likley an 1-A, although it could be whatever people want. That's part of the problem, one guy will want a RSI, the next in maple, etc. If this is going to work, we'll need guys to still order even if its not their exact ideal.
To try to get one that suits the maximum number of people without driving cost up, perhaps just a 1-A with a custom serial like CAN1867-00001?

We'll take $200 deposits and try to have a total price in place very soon. If we can't get enough, then deposits will go back , of course. If we keep it simple to just the 'different' caliber and serial, the price should be $1199 or so (same as other #1's)

you want CC or EMT for the deposit?

I'm only interested in .303British, but I am interested enough that if it's going to be the RSI stock, I'll put $200 down right away. If it's the 1-A, does anyone know for sure if Ruger will sell the necessary parts to convert to an RSI later? A reasonable hope of that would probably pry a deposit out of me, too.

It could go either way, we could go for the RSI or the 1-A. Thing is we need to do what will get the most orders; guys that want one but will 'settle' for the other will make this work. BTW, we are at about 27 'hard' orders since I announced this a few hours ago. Its great but a long way to 200. We need all the guys here to tell their buddies too. :)

Would someone please enlighten me as to the difference between a 1-A and an RSI? I am not in a position to buy one but a few of my shooting partners might be.
