Hello people,

i'm a newbie and thinking about getting an AR-15.

i'm wondering if there is a better manufacturer for that gun (armalite, colt, etc.)
also, is there a reason why i would want to go with an AR-10 or AR-18 instead?

i like them with short barrell and ajustable stock.

i asked the same question and many people said good things about Bushmaster. Actually someone told me bushmaster actually make the actions for both smith&wes and for Colt..........thats what i was told, never looked into its truth
 
Colt, LMT make some very nice rifles. But Colt are sort of hard/expensive to find in Canada and LMT is becoming harder, too. CMMG, Stag, Armalite, RRA, Bushmaster, S&W, and many others make decent commercial ARs. Stag probably is one of the preferred of the latter.

You can also spend a metric buttload on things like Larue or KAC, too.

All depends on what you want. Check the AR offerings in the sticky at the top of the page.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the above post, either.
 
I'd like to recommend Sabre Defence Industries' XR15s. I own a carbine (with a 29.2cm SS barrel). Their entire rifles/carbines are made and put together in the factories in whole. They don't outsource for parts, like most manufacturers. Everything they make is of very high quality, especially the barrels, as they've been making them for the US government (army, air force, marines, etc) for awhile now and just recently got a couple contracts with the US gov't to make M16A4s. They're now one of the few companys that make ARs for the US gov't, which is pretty neat in the end.

However, they're becoming difficult to find. I got mine from Wolverine Supplies, and it was one of the last carbines they had in stock. You may find the odd one on EE, you never know. Due to the parent company in the US not selling them to Canada they're availability has become sparce, but, they have a branch company in the UK where Wolverine Supplies was able to acquire a few. They're a bit pricey, too, but well worth it.

My other recommendation would be the Norinco CQ556. I've heard mixed reviews on it, but overall they're decent ARs. If it's the first time ever even handling this style of rifle, I would say to go with the Norinco. It's very affordable and you'll be able to see what it's like to fire and own a rifle of this remarkable design without sacrificing a limb or two to acquire it.
 
i own 3 stags, i have yet to have a jam or FTF. also i did not clean one for over a year and ran about 1200 rounds thru it and not a drop of lube since the first round fired, still ran like a clock. I am 100% sure you cant go wrong with any of the listed brands, the ar platform has "specs" you can take one bolt out of a gun and put it in another and it should work just fine, or so i was told. ive never had to do it or looked much up about it, so i cannot confirm.

The only redeeming feature of the AR180B is that it is non-rest. It is somewhat difficult to find one (a new one) and production of this rifle is on hold, so...

AR10..........do you really want more recoil and spend more cash on ammo?. It's only a range gun, so...it's really up to you if you want to spend the cash on 7.62/308 vs 5.56/.223

It's like picking chevy over ford over chrysler over x over y over z......except that Colt is sold at Cadillac prices, they all work. I just bought a couple Aero Precision stripped lowers any they look great!
 
You pretty much get what you can find in Canada sadly. But I would rank Colt, LMT, Sabre Defense, KAC and Noveske right at the Koolaid crop, the rest just follows.

Red River tactical has there frames made by Mega Machine shops Inc. this company also has a contract to make air plane parts for Boeing & AR frames for the US gov.
