wanna finally build some jacketed loads for my ol' 1899
32-40 calls for .321 jacketed bullets
I have 2 boxes of 170gr that are marked .322(32spl?) on the box but mic .321
I'd like to use them.
Any foreseeable problems like a stuck bullet?
I'd just build one and see what happens but I'm mighty fond of that old iron and the bore is mint.Rather not be diggin around in there...
will 1 thou(on the box) make any difference?
what say the experts?

I've fired some .32(321's) out of my .32-40 with no problems. As well,I've used some 8mm(miked at .322) without any problems.I also have a 1899C. Not to many of them around in that caliber......Ken.

mines an 1899B,full octagon barrel.
I figured it would be OK since they mic'd .321 but nice to have firsthand experience as well

You or your gun won't notice the difference. Except you may find that extra thou makes your gun more accurate!

The bullet will not get stuck. Matter of fact, by time it travels 1 bullet length down the barrel it will be the same size as any other bullet.

It is a fairly standard practice to have cast bullets sized .001" over the standard jacketed bullet diameter. Your .32-40 will be fine with either .321" or .322" bullets and may shoot better with the larger diameter.

Considering that I've pounded .312 150 grain bullets down my .309-ish mini-30 (7.62x39), with nary a hic-up (in fact, it's the single most accurate load in my mini-30), I'd be shocked if you run into any troubles.

Keeping in mind that one thou in diameter is one-half thou in radius, I don't think you'll have any trouble.

let's just say that you CAN use too much boom stick and always park your truck at least 1/2 mile away

a 60lb piece of stump makes a nasty dent in a pickup when traveling at reentry velocities
