Well after reading a post about a guys friends gun blowing up and they cant seem to figure out why. i am just wonderin if its another black cloud problem or not. i just wanted to see what everyone thaught about black cloud ammo. i have shot it once and i found it was terrable now, i didnt use a black cloud choke or pattern master choke/ i had a normal remington mod choke, @ 20 yards on a kill shot for a goose it took 3 rounds to finish it off. i then took it to the gun club and patterened it there. the pattern was terrable. and penatration, lol some pellets bounced off the paper, no word of a lie. at it was from 25 yards. one of my friends shot it out of his beretta extrema with the truglow adjustable choke and it turned the wad inside out and into a slug, he noticed this after hitting a goose and seeing a hole right through the bird. he took it to the range and the "wadslug" hit the top of the patterning board which is steel plate and put a nice golf ball sized dent into it.



What is everyone elses opinion on this stuff

Kent Faststeel....the only way to go...No comparison to Blackcloud...this stuff launches 2's and 3's at 1550 fps..kills em dead

X2 kent makes good qualty shot shells i use #1 for ducks and geese and you couldent ask for better

x3 yeah i love the kent ammo i shoot 4's for duck and 2 or bb for geese. remington nitro is really good to but a bit up there in price, i just cant justify blackcrap ammo

You should probably test new ammo before you take it out into the field.

you shouldent have to "test" new ammo everytime. i have shot almost every brand of steel shot out there and when using the same length choke shot size and weight there is usually not a huge difference. not enough that the thing is going to turn the wad inside out and turn it into a slug.

I use Kent and Black Cloud. I like the Black Cloud for Geese in 3 1/2 #2
At 70+ yrds blew 1 goose into the bush, that much power.
I use Kent for Ducks #6 in 3 1/2

You should pattern your gun with the load you are using, not doing this means you will lose more birds and all in all is in my books unethical and not fair to the animal being pursued. Do you not sight in your deer rifle, because you shouldn't have to test "new" ammo.
