I love how right away everyone dislikes them for any reason...I would never buy one even if I had blah blah blah.
I suppose human nature is to oppose what you can't have. Does anyone really need a Lambo, a Ferrari or Maclaren? Hell no, but they are instant heros when they do. It's the same thing. Ask yourself this, if you had enough money that made a $50K gun a reasonable purchase, would you really still buy the savage combo...?
I can tell you right now, without hesitation that if I was able to comfortably spend that much on a gun... I would. $50K to a multimillionaire is like $500 to me and obviously most else on this site. You ain't never seen a hurst pulling a Uhaul have you?
Well, speaking for myself, I don't hate them, don't envy the guys that can afford them, nor do I consider anyone a "hero" if they buy such. That goes for the guns and the cars.
The maker has a good thing going, is making sales, and I wish him success. His product, however, does not do much for me, and if I were one of them what has no questions to answer about where the money got spent, I'd have a gun room that would give Charlton Heston's a run for competition. I wouldn't bother with Mr Miller's work, unless he can come up with something that does not come across like a blinged up Navigator.
A good reference for some great skills for sale.

Different folks have different skills to bring to the table. When you have the money to spend, you may as well have the best do what they are good at, rather than paying one man to do a bunch of things he is adequate at.
FWIW, in that price range, my tastes run more towards classic target guns, the likes that Harry Pope would recognize, Custom Shop Winchester Hiwalls, from their original era, and the like, high grade sporting rifles as well.
Rock Island Auctions tends to have a pretty good line on some really sweet stuff.
Rationalizing my tastes with my means, right now, on the other hand...
Cheers
