We are all gun enthusiasts here...you dont think that this being your major hobby you wouldn't spurge on something like that?
Of course, but, STILL, nobody has been able to say what makes those $50k rifles!
For example this rifle isnew and costs $11,000:
The Titanium Mauser action at the heart of this .284 Winchester is entirely machined by hand in our work shop.
The action, bolt, bottom metal and all action parts are made of Titanium. The 24" half-octagon, half-round, cut-rifled barrel is classically styled in proportion to the .284 bore.
The Exhibition grade walnut stock was flawlessly inletted and shaped in house. This piece of wood is not only exceptional in color and contrast, but is also very uniform from one side to the other.
Integral scope bases are machined into the Titanium action to accept Sunny Hill's double-lever, quick-detach mounts. They are 100% rock-solid and offer 100% repeatability
And that entire action is made in house as opposed to an off the shelf action. Many of the custom made ddouble square bridge M98 actions will set you back +$4000 for just the action. You can get an amazing exhibition grade walnut blank for $2500. Turning, finishing and checkering- another $1500 (?). Match/select grade barrel from Shilen, Pac-Nor, Krieger etc - less than $500.
So that brings you to a very basic $8500 plus this and that and labour (except for the stock).
What did I miss? Seems to me lots of $ is added just for the name.
