FOXPRO FURY REVIEW AFTER 2 DAYS IN THE FIELD (with pictures)

I have used hand calls, and it just wasn't for me, the cost might be low but you have to buy a couple before you find one that works for you.

I agree I spend a lot of money but I asure everyone here it wasn't a spur of the moment, I did my research saved up my money and decided it was worth it.

I love coyote hunting, I'm not just doing this for something to do,it has become a passion, an obsession if you ask my wife.... I have great respect for these animals, I simply posted this review to show everyone who's considering one of these units, what's acctually involved.

In my opinion its a great package. Hand calls are not for me, I'm a new age guy starting out, on my own with no help. I have learned so much about these animals since I started, I can't wait for the next hunt already!

I appreciate the review, no doubt you did your homework before the purchase, thats why I have so many questions..
I hunt for a living, I am not always blessed with the time it takes to determine which call is going to be the one that works. Most of my coyotes were shot at before I get the call, all the hand calling in the world isn't going to bring in a coyote that has recently heard a bullet blow past him. The best bet in that situation is to step back from exciting them with a dinner bell and go after their sense of curiousity, and a caller that can hammer out two different sounds in unison, and two seperate directions can be what closes the deal.
I love hand calling, but it is limited. again, most of my hunts are for leary coyotes.
I am a bow hunter, and I can appreciate the skills required to use the tools in your pocket, good calls, lots of practice.. There is absolutly a place in coyote hunting for an E-caller, and that Fury is top notch all the way.
It is important to have knowledge on the prey before you try to load the e-caller, they arn't magic, they still need to be programmed with the right noise, the right frequency, volume, direction , duration of silence.. It changes every day, what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. I am looking forward to your results!!

First I would like to say good job on the review, I for one just ordered a Spitfire and think for the money it's a good deal for what's out there at the same price. tons of interest for this caller as well so looking forword to testing it. after you get the hang of it let me know which calls work best for you.

a hand warmer taped to the side of the battery compartment?????

I hear it does work, or you can place it in a duffle bag to protect it from the wind this should help to keep the batteries going a bit longer, what ever helps. I use rechargeable bats

Well we are on the subject anyone try Predator Quest calls? i.e. Les Johnson's calls?

Great review... thanks.

Even with the bounty here in Sask, I just can't even start to think about dropping that much cash on a caller. We've had a lot of luck with an old MP3 player and a home built speaker that runs on a rechargeble drill battery.

I'm going to start playing with hand calls this year.

Scott,
I have a $3000 Shiloh Sharps, it will never pay for itself. But DAMN, is it ever fun to reload, and play with!! ;)

Later.........[/QUOTE]

I have a nice collection of revolvers. An a CZ 9mm.
None of them will ever pay a dime...:D

my weekend outing didn't get me any yotes, I almost froze my toes off though -17 ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, The unit worked great though, no battery issues. Sadly came home empty handed.......Had a blast introducing a new hunter (first time) to our wonderful obsession!

-17 isn't cold, you wuss :p

Looks like a nice unit though. Too rich for my blood though. I might make a CD of calls to blast through the speakers of my truck.... then I can shoot yotes in a T-shirt at -30! :p

Let's just say I was wearing the wrong sox, trust me I fixed that, new shoes and sox under the xmas tree, also -17 isn't cold when ur moving but sitting still for 2 hours it gets to you.

LL82,

What area are hunting ? I think you mentioned you were in ontario ? I agree -17 is cold enough when you're not moving and out in the open. Im hoping to get out this weekend. Need to shoot a few targets before going out for preds.

lucky, if your looking for more property head out to bolton, king city area. TONS of coyotes around and my brother works out that way and lots of farmers are complaining and want hunters, I may venture out that way later in the season

##2

So I went out today at about 2 in the afternoon, setup the caller about 150 meters out, sat up in a tree and waited. Wind was blowing from several directions........Called in 4 coyotes within 2 hours.

Here is what I learned:

Lesson # 2 Don't fcuk around with the caller in the field without a gun. Those yotes aren't stupid, If they come in and no rabbit, they won't be coming in again.
They learn fast to a real rabbit and an imitation
