1963 Factory 26 Chinese SKS

I recently picked this beauty up and wanted to share it with all. It is all matching and was covered in cosmoline when I got it a few weeks ago.

If I am wrong with my conclusions please advise, I am more of a WWII guy but could not let this pass. I got most of my info of the net.

This is a pristine example of a Jianshe Arsenal (fatcory 26) sks dating back to 1963. There are some stamps on the receiver which indicate it may have made arrived in the USA.

This example has what I believe is the late jungle stock. I do not know if that was original issue or a replacement

I got it without the bayonet and am trying to find out exactly which bayonet is correct.

Can you remove the gas tube and take apic of the rear of the gas tube "both left and right side" I want to see if the pin has been removed to install the jungle hand guard or was the stock place on at the factory.

You can tell because the factory peens both sides of the pin and if someone removed it, they would damage the peen job

Here are some pics of the rear of the gas tube. I do not believe they have been removed As I have found them very hard to remove on some of my other sks and they never look the same again. Anyway i will let you guys decide. It would be nice if this was the way it was issued.

I agree it looks like a factory job, Hmmmmmmmm

This means it was ether done for export for the USA market or far a forgien army or Its was issued this way to the PLA.
 
A few years back Bell imported a batch with so-called "jungle" stocks and no bayonet, similar to the one shown.

In original trim this carbine would have had a blade bayonet. The bayonet notch on the stock and cut out on the front band will indicate what kind is was last equipped with.
 
I think that the Sino Soviets had blade bayo's ( 4 digit sernum ) all others had spike bayo. I have a 1957 factory 26 with a spike bayo (sernum starts with a 1 ), it's complete, numbers matching and no US import markings. I think yours should have a spike bayo on it and as far as the stock goes I don't know what the story on them is. (many opinions no facts) What type of slot is there? thin=blade thick=spike. I like the glass stocks just buy a bayo to match.

Wrong all SKS 56 had blades til the mid 1960s. If yours is a 1957 with a spike it was refurded

thats correct .

at factory /26\ , from 1956 to mid 1965 SKS came with blade bayo , thereafter it came with spike.

if you have a 1957 spike then the bayo was replaced during refurb , same with my 1967 thats has a blade bayo instead of a spike .

you're asking $375 shipped, thats a bit steep considering a large shipment of chinese SKS has arrived .

but i must say its a nice collector piece , not sure if people wants the import stamp tho.
 
Yea, your average joe will only pay the lowest possible for a chinese sks, because it's chinese.
If it has collector's value, the fact will be lost on 99% of people.
