Business 101:
There is such a thing as a "Lost Leader" in business, where the store sells you something for little or NO profit, just to get you in as a customer. They hope you'll like their store, and continue shopping there. Customer loyalty is a valuable commodity, and when a business is sold, along with the hard inventory, they calculate the value of the customer base as well.
Business 102:
TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP ....
have you ever noticed they are practically giving away COLOR PRINTERS?
BUT THEN, check out the price for ink cartridges ....
SOME BRANDS are sky high, others are reasonable.
So, before you buy, consider TCOO as a TOTAL!!!
Can Am is NOT making much of a profit, if any at all, on these Glocks ...
but with the price of ammunition [ and by a strange coincidence ] Can Am DOES sell ammunition ] you want to shop for a good deal on ammo as well as a good deal on your guns. In general, can am has good prices on ammo, and ammo is harder to source right now than guns, so they probably don't need to use a Lost Leader to pull in business ... but it can't hurt.
BUSINESS 103:
BUY LOW, Sell High
Believe it or not,
I have bought several new and lightly used Glock for even less than the posted Can Am prices. Dealers going out of the Glock line, shooters deciding after a couple of mags, that a Glock [ or that caliber Glock ] is not for them. Last year, I bought SEVEN Glocks, just because they were available from a certain Glock dealer at FANTASTIC close out prices.
PS:
I was just visiting the new Blue Line shop,
and they were selling .223 Fiocchi ammo cheaper than anyone else ....
LOST LEADER.
Unfortunately for me [ and BL ], I bought lots of 5.56 ammo for $ 4.00 a box at a gunshow last spring.
Right now,
with the economy sort of in tatters,
the deals are out there for those with cash in their pockets,
and the patience to wait,
or pounce,
as appropriate.
Of course,
