Unfortunately, it is listed in the OIC as a variant of the AK-47.
Wrong. PKM on that list refers to a Polish(?) AK variant.
Interesting. The belt would have to be limited to 5 rounds however. Its not a Kalashnikov action, so i dont think it would be automtically prohib, for example the RPD( which is only prohib because it would be 12.3). The experts will have to field this one, im stumped.

PMK = Pistolet Maszynowy Kałasznikow ie AK Machine Pistol. Later refered to as "kbk AK"
PKM/PKMS GPMG in Polish service is Pulemiot Kałasznikowa Modernizowannyj/ Pulemiot Kalasznikowa Modernizirowannyj Stankowyj

I know there is no logical explanation but still why AR15 semi is ok, BD38 semi is ok, Saiga is no-no even a shot gun version, PKM semi is no-no again...I do belive the vogue wording such as "all AK variants" must have a limit, must have clear definition why...
The laws were developed by a Lieberal government, therefore there can be NO logical explanation for ANY Canadian Firearms laws!!
