Saw my first one today at P&D and damn but it's a good looking pistol. This was the first time I'd seen one (the regular is a prohib)... it had a "canadianized" barrel (sticks out about as far as a Beretta 92F barrel and it was dirt cheap!

Anybody own one of these yet? Any impressions?

I played with one at TSE and thought the dbl action and trigger reset were brutal.
If those can be 'fixed', I'd say its pretty decent, especially for the price...
 
I bought one from Pheonix but wish I had gotten it from P+D. I have never had such an issue getting my temp att ever. I would have had the gun on Monday if I had just had the temp att faxed to me instead. Now after many phone calls and 2 hours wasted I still dont have my gun. Now I have to wait until Thursday.

From what I know the gun was designed as a duty pistol for the reason of replasing service sidearms of Czech police. Thus it has different ergos allowing for handling and shooting with gloves on.
 
Is that some kind of factory grip tape on the slide and grip? Can you remove it? I love the look of the pistol but I'd likely choose to remove it from the slide for a simpler look.
 
Well, it's 650$. I figure that's pretty cheap as the only name brand 9mm I can think of that is slightly cheaper is the SR9. Everything else is even or more.

Beltfed: Is the trigger on par with a standard 75?

As it's clearly a molded plastic frame I'm going to guess that these grip areas are molded in. While the upper frame area in front of the slide release seems silly the frame grip areas are nice to have. Otherwise the plastic would get uber slippery on a hot day when you're sweating.
 
Just handled one at TSE. It's seriously cool. The abrassive areas above the trigger are molded in intentionaly to aid in achieving a consistant, repeatable grip everytime you draw or fire. The frame quality/finish seems to be on par with early HK USP frames (my opinion). It points quite naturally, but then, I am a CZ 75 fan. The trigger isn't bad in SA and the reset is reasonable. DA however is awful. Of course, a CZ hotrod trigger will take care of that, and for the price, you can afford to.
 
Have these stores had lots of mags in stock too? Did you catch a price for them? One of the big things that keeps me leaning toward the Phantom is that is uses the same mags as my Shadow and the other model 75's.

I think $650 brings it in line with the G17, STI GP-6, etc. - Good Price to be sure.

I think the steel framed CZs have a better trigger from the go; SA, DA and reset. We'll see if Ghost or the like will offer up go faster parts for this (I suppose it isn't a matter if, but when)
 
The SR9s I have seen have gone for $550...and CanAm just had brand new G17s and G22s on for $599.

They have G20s for $649 I believe.

So this would have to either get cheaper or be a really great gun to grab my personal attention.

I don't know anything about them at all so it's possible they are that great. But price alone...not impressed.
 
Hmm, at the same store the g17 is 800$ which is even with it's price at every store around here. The only cheaper 9mm at this store is the SR9 at 600$ but of course there's gonna be an overhead.
 
I handled one at Phoenix and I do like the looks of the gun. One thing I don't like is that the slide colour doesnt match the frame colour. The frame grip is nice when your trigger finger is at natural extension, it rests nice on the grip. I would just like to shoot it before I decide to buy it.
