Tactical shotguns?

The best use of the tactical shotgun is picking up other dudes at the range!!
My tactical guns are the best things for meeting over weight middle aged men since I turned 19 and came out of the closet.:bigHug:

I keep one solely and entirely to shoot PPC Slug Gun matches. Ten rounds, two strings of five each, 25 meters. One string fired mixed hands and positions, calmly and with plenty of time; one string five rounds rapid, standing unsupported, against the clock.

That rapid string... You borrow a shotgun to try it, once? 18" or 20" pumper? On a sunny day, outdoors, in summer? You end up buying the shotgun off the guy who loaned it to you.

I use mine for predator control on our country property and for the shotgun-only deer season in Ontario.

Mine doesn't meet the requirements the truly tacticool. No laser, bayonet, multiple rails, optics, folding stock, pistol grip, bayonet or heat shield. Just a simple 20 inch 870 with a few improvements that gets the job done and a 14" Remington factory barrel on the rare occasion I need something more compact.

And this is why I dont have one.........:D

Heh. Okay, I'll play: Winchester Model 1897 trench gun, USGI-issue, made in 1917. Stripped, low-drag version. Heat shield, bayonet lug, and front bead all long gone. No folding stock, no rail, no pistol grip, no glass, no light, no sights.

Now watch; someone will post pictures of his blunderbuss, signed by #### Turpin. "And I grind my own black powder..."

its a very honest question and deserves a very honest answer. As i currently have more than few tactical set ups (rem police magnum 14", 590, marine magnum) i can honestly say i just like the idea of putting them together and occasionally shooting them if and when i visit the in laws up north....that's it.

I get an immense amount of satisfaction of putting them together, looking at them, admiring them, and then playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare2.
Might be a little juvenile i know but hey, I've worked hard all my life for my toys and thats what floats my boat. Hard to run around the city playing with a tactical shotgun that would make any lieberal drop a load in their pants once they get a glance of it. I'm also into tactical rimfire setups which get used often but the shotgun thing is just for s&^%s and giggles. Makes me feel like a bad a$$

Good, honest answer right here.
I do it for fun and just because i can, so i'm in the same boat. Actually, I’ve been thinking of making an over-the-top "tactical" AR-15.... for s*&t and giggles.

My 12.5" Grizzly is perfect for dogging runs while moose hunting. Doesn't get caught on stuff climbing under/over logs and through swamps, or crashing straight through the brush off trail. With some bird shot, I can take a grouse I scare up in the process, or with a slug in the saddle a bear I wake up/step on or a moose going the wrong way.

thanks for the insights guys:rockOn:. I guess I need to get out more and stop shooting little birds.

If you get into tactical anything, you will need a full length mirror for extended periods of dress-up, practicing your bad ass face and reciting your action movie one liners. Also, you will need a digital SLR cause most of the shooting you will be doing is glamour shots of your guns surrounded by knives, loose ammo, glasses of scotch and multiple passports. Cheers,

Patrick

So true brother.....we all got a little "GI joe meets wedding photographer"
in us eh! Its all about the fun factor!

what is the regular Joe using them for?

Absolutely nothing. Nothing you can't use a 'regular' shotgun for that is

It is the same BULLs**t as a car...you put big flashy rims on and all that other $hit for what? So the next guy can see you driving by.

That's not to say I don't have tactical guns - I do. I look at them a lot and take them shooting when the weather is nice. They are not necessary to have, but fun.

When I was a kid I used to love movies whit cool guns (Delta Force, Rambo, Sniper etc...), and now I get to own them. Oh, I love the 'wow' (and intimidation) factor when friends come over and see them, or when I'm walking down my hall to the elevator to go to my vehicle when heading out on a day shooting. I get interesting looks/comments. LOL. :D
