I got my hands on a 870 express with the 28" barrel. I am wondering if there are mods that I can make to it. EX pistol grip

Yes! The 870 is a blank canvas. It seems everybody makes parts for it.

FWIW, if you have never fired a shotgun with a pistol grip, you may want to, BEFORE, buying one. The pistol gripped shotguns tend to recoil fiercely!

You really need to decide what your end purpose will be before suggestions can be made. Are you looking to build it for home defense, tactical shooting sports, turkey hunting, duck hunting, small game, deer, bear, etc.?

I don't think there's anything you can't do to a remington 870. Just about everything made for pump action shotguns are made for an 870. I'd skipped on the pistol grib though... I'd go with a shorter barrel and full stock if anything, but that's just me.
