Ruger SR-22

Ruger SR-22

I assume non-restricted ? Based on the 10/22 action. Who has em here in Canada ? Anyone own one or shoot one yet ?

There are a few threads on this one but the search function isn't bringing them up.

Ruger can't ship them to Canada how they are now, I belive they are taking some parts off to make them legal to ship to Canada as non-restricted.

It is a basic 1022 with a nordic AR22 conversion kit. I couldnt wait untill Ruger could ship them to Canada so I made my own check it out...

Thank from me too,... my searches were coming up somewhat empty too.

So the last posts on this gun where back in Oct. I guess no one has heard anything more as to when they might be available north of the 49th?

I've been keeping my eye out for these in Canada for the last month now... Nothing new has come up. I bet the hold up is because of the flash eliminator (according to the Ruger page, the SR-22 uses a mini-14 flash elimiminator) or some of the AR type parts. Not sure about this, but it seems likely. Ruger probably isn't rushing to remove what they need to because their main market in the USA will keep them busy for awhile...
Maybe Wolverine Supplies will look at getting them in...they seem quick with the other .22 AR type rifles. I see it selling well.

The US wouldn't allow export because of the threaded barrel/collapsible stock. Ruger has made the "California edition" of the SR22 though with a fixed stock and no flash hider or threaded barrel.

Someone else on here posted up an email from Ruger stating that these would be shipping to Canada around the end of December.

I can't wait to get my paws on one myself, lol. I've been talking about doing a Nordic build for quite some time but never did get around to doing it, now I'll just buy one of these and customize over time.

You are allowed to have a threaded barrel in Canada. They are not restricted in any way. The trouble is, The USA will not allow a firearm with a threaded barrel to be exported.

Really, i thought the threaded barrel was prohibited because it allowed the use of a suppressor. But it makes sense now, flash hiders and muzzle breaks are threaded on too.

When one of the CGN dealers is able to bring them in I will be buying one.

Should be in stock next week...fixed stock at $550, collapsible stock at $675 (installed in house). Small first order coming...E-mail or phone order as I will be out of the country until Jan/10 and can't respond to PM s. Phil.

Please don't take this the wrong way but you really should educate yourself on the various aspects of Canadian firearms law. It wll serve you well in the future.

Unless a firearm's characteristics meets the definition of a restricted firearm, or said firearm has been named specifically and deemed restricted by law, then you are good to go.

Well, if you act like that I have to call you out.
You forgot a great big one and that is if the RCMP change their mind (ie. type 97). The "various aspects of canadian firearms law" makes no sense at all and is really just made up as they go.

Thanks for the update Phil!

I can see one of these becoming a Christmas gift for myself, lol.

Will do.

With all the threaded barrel controversy on this thread I have to ask, is the barrel threaded and if so what's on the end? Also is there a pic somewhere of the fixed stock unit?

Thanks

No, there will not be a threaded barrel on the ones coming to Canada. The USA will not allow export of threaded barrels.

Threaded barrels for 10/22's aren't real hard to find here in Canada though. You can always put one on after, I know I will be.
