USC Shorty Project

good idea, i guess. just not to sure why i would need to change a barrel on it that fast

Its more for the original design concept of the UMP, where you can change the bolt and barrel, and swap calibers real quick.

With the USC, and our ranges, it could always be good to swap between the UMP barrel for short range stuff, or put the USC 16" barrel in if you want to do some more precision shooting, or longer range shooting (say 100, 150 yards).

The USC barrel is a target barrel after all :D

Can I bring it to the range then swap to a shorter barrel (making it restricted) shoot it, then switch back to the longer barrel to keep it non-res...?

Allegedly that's illegal. Realistically, that will probably be frowned upon. In the spirit of the law, with the non-restricted barrel it is more difficult to hide in your pants than with the shorter barrels, but still possible. Extra evil points if you have a flash-hider and a folding-stock & pistol-grip and it's black in colour.

If its classified as RESTRICTED, then yes you can put the 18.5" barrel on, since you have 30 days to notify the CFC of changes.

However if it would change the class of your firearm, then you would need to get the new certificate before you change the barrel on it (technically speaking of course)

Now is anybody going to know or really care? maybe not. But its usually not worth it to find out. The best thing to do, is if you get a non restricted barrel for it, is to lock up the restricted class barrel somewhere else, and only put it on if you change it to restricted.

If its left as restricted then you can again, technically use both, although its a bit pointless.

Where did you get the short barrel?

+1.
Where did you get the short barrel, as well as the cost?
Also, what's the deal on the quick change roll pin?
I'm trying to decide on whether to take the plunge...
(I already have four USC mags put aside!:D)
