Ruger SR-22

I love Ruger 10/22s don't get me wrong. But $675 is pretty steep for a dumbed down Toronto Star version on the SR.

Why don't you buy a good used 10/22 and join us on the fab- 556 thread where we need about 40 more guys to get

Fab to run off another batch of 556s. Threaded barrels, AR stocks and grips, fake suppressors. What more can you want?

The reason i don't focus on all the laws, is because i only learn what i need to know, and i didn't educate myself before i spoke. I was shooting blind basically, i heard from a friend that they weren't getting imported into Canada because of the threaded barrel because of the use of a suppressor. I'm a wrong echo. But that sounds terrific that the gun made it into Canada with a solid stock and non threaded barrel! I'm excited, i think i'll be making a new purchase in the near future.

Well, if you act like that I have to call you out.
You forgot a great big one and that is if the RCMP change their mind (ie. type 97). The "various aspects of canadian firearms law" makes no sense at all and is really just made up as they go.

I was trying to be nice and polite. Perhaps, you missed it? Afterall, it was the OPENING LINE.

RCMP don't make Canadian law, they simply enforce what's already on the books. That's why their classification system is under review by higher ups. Because they can't just make s**t up as they go along. THAT'S the issue.

The Type 97 fiasco has it's own issues and presumed set of facts. Don't cloud the situation here by drawing it into the discussion over a 10/22. There's no correlation.

Ironically, "The Judge" needed to ask the same question.

I just have to ask you guys that are surprised that the SR22 is "non-restricted". On what basis would you ever have believed it to be otherwise?

My comment on knowing the law wasn't out of disprespect, it was to get you motivated to elivate your knowledge of the law that governs the shooting sports. Remember the old addage, "There's no excuse for ignorance of the law"? Same thing applies here. I gaurantee you 100% that if we don't know how to read the law and interpret it, then it'll be that much easier for the anti-gun crowd to one day have the have wanted for decades and that is complete erradication of firearms within Canada.

For example, it's people like Mark at Questar that have taken the time to KNOW the law and work around it to get us 10 round pistol mags that just happen to fit AR15's as well. Or the countless others who have challenged regulations and policies that were contrary to written law and have fought hard to turn back some of the Draconian measures the Feds have enacted only because we just lied down and took it because we just "assumed" it was against the law.

It's no different that people constantly saying .50 cal. rifles are prohibited or that tracer ammo is illegal. And the list goes on and on and on.

Get the picture yet?

out of curiosity how much would the kit cost with all the furniture and rifle?

I've thought about the 556 I just like the nordic better, I've got nothing against the 556, just a matter of personal taste.

The SR22 will be a little cheaper though for me,For $620 (taxes in shipped) I can get the SR22 and start shooting right away. I don't currently have a 10/22 so the first thing I'd have to do is spend ~$360 on a new 10/22 (SR22 is new too, let's keep the comparison fair). Then there's ~$250 for the kit. That's $610 right there. I would still have to buy a stock/handguard, now we're up to $8-900 before you can even shoot with it in the "kit". Plus, then there's the shorter threaded barrels, fake silencers etc... but they still cost the same amount of dough whether they're going on a factory SR22 or a "kit" rifle. With the SR22 I can worry about upgrading those later.

i just ordered mine today, should have it in a week
was told 525$ tax in.
i was told that they cant ship with the heat shield or collapsable stock.
as far as the dealer knew, it still had the flash suppresor.
mini 14's were still coming with them up until recently.
i am ordering the collapsable stock tommorrow.
cant wait to get mine.
i was going to do the heavy barrel 10/22 and an ar style stock, but it was gonna be over 1000 before it was done, so this only made sense. and most AR accessories will fit it right out of the box.:sniper:

if anyone gets theirs first, i would love to see an exact picture of it
also, where could i get the barrel threaded if they dont come that way... any machine shop?

purplezuk, I'm curious where you ordered as well, I'll be in Edmonton till the 29th and wouldn't mind dropping by a shop or two...

just a local red deer shop
im sure any dealer who has enough energy to pick up a phone can get one.
no one has these yet, as they havent even crossed the border yet, but they were a canadian batch from ruger so that the us customs will let them out of the states.
sounds like im getting one of the first ones..... oh yay, poor fit and finish.........
oh well those pieces will probably come off anyways
