I bought this gun off the EE but cant figure out what this character is, so i cant complete the transfer. Or is it even part of the serial?

This is strange, The seller is the one who gives all the info off the registration
card , not the buyer. Most times buyer doesn't know what the serial # is till the paper work comes for the gun, and then the gun arrives.
Or is the gun unpapered?
I do not understand why you as the buyer would have to worry about it.

Exactly, unless for some reason you were asked by the folks at CFC to provide this information, just go ahead and complete the transfer. As the buyer, you don't need all of the info that you hear when you call the CFC. Just ignore it and complete the call.

The others are right, as the buyer you dont need the serial, unless your initiating the transfer. In this case the seller should prep the transfer and simply forward the case number for you to validate with the lady.

I have never had to give the serial number of a gun when I was buyer.. The seller initiates the transfer and CFC already has the serial #. If the gun has never been registered then that is a different story, but why do you have the gun before it is registered to you.

I have had them ask me the same question once before when the registered SN did not match the pre-established format that they feel the SN should be. My answer was "how the hell should I know, it's not in my possession yet" and that was the end of that conversation. I also have an Enfield that much if the markings were ground off and their registration info was incomplete, only by knowing much of the other markings, stamps and SN range can I attribute a date to it. Rifles registered at the beginning of the registry often have gaps in the info that they want to have now.

What type of rifle is it? it may have the SN marked elsewhere as well.

Its a No4 MK1, i looked everywhere but could not find the # anywhere else.

Im going to call in again today..

The CFC required additional information on my Kbk wz 98 as it was the first time the rifle was pulled out of the seller's safe and sold in 30 years. I believe I was asked what the serial # was, the barrel length (with bolt closed), and make of model. No biggie, it took a few extra minutes to get the required information on the database and the transfer was done.

For your serial number, Pig4000, just read what is legible as that is what goes in the RCMP's database for registration.
