While talking about shot placement, people frequently mention boiler room , what is that?

I shot a black bear 10 days ago at the upper shoulder, the bullet went through the heart and stop at the other side of the rib. Next time, I might try boiler room if I know where it is.

I've heard that before to "got em, right in the boiler room". i think it just means the vitals. the boiler room is normally the room that produces pressure to make things work. sounds cool anyway BOILER ROOM I love saying that. Hope I get to say it tomorrow too.

just the chest cavity the heart and lungs are separated from the rest of the internal organs by a muscle membrane called a diaphragm making it it's own little "boiler" room

just fyi the function of the diaphragm is to push air in and out of the lungs

The phrase comes from WWI. If you torpedo a steam ship in the boiler room it basically destroys the ship, fast.

Presumable it refers to the heart, or vitals.

A mechanical room or a boiler room is a room or space in a building dedicated to the mechanical equipment and its associated electrical equipment. Unless a building is served by a centralized heating plant, the size of the mechanical room is usually proportional to the size of the building.

So a head shot could be called the computer??? Or the control room? Central command? Ah never mind, they don't sound cool.

Yes, but you must scream out as if you were typing in all caps "HEAD SHOT!"

...and if you manage to bag 2 animals in the head right after one another, you must call out "Double kill!" in your most Halo'ish voice possible

In the financial world, brokers pitching penny stocks which are worthless to begin with. High pressure selling in other words.

There's a movie called "Boiler Room" :-D

Exactly what CanAm mentioned... since a boiler is a pressurized vessel it has the potential to cause catostrophic destruction if it is ruptured due to either being over pressurized or ruptured from some type of external damage. One unit of water will flash to 1700 units of steam.
I've witnessed an instance of a commercial boiler rupturing from too much pressure, at a distance of around twenty feet. I can assure you I had difficulty hearing for the next week.
