Just a question,

Howcome Marlin's never pop up in discussion or are for sale? I own a 925 and it's an awesome accurate, well-made gun. Discussion is always about Ruger's, Savage's, and Remington's.

Even in the semi-auto scene, the Model 60 is real good. Just wondering if it's mostly a brand that people avoid in rimfire shooting.

I own a marlin 1894 in 25-20 and several Model 81DLs in .22 and never have a problem with any. I guess if they have no ill issues, then they do not get discussed. Best old gopher guns by far that I have come across.

I just purchased a marlin 981t off the EE on here.

I found reviews and info on them to be hard to find. Same thing you're saying, no one talks about them. But I did some digging and found that they're good quality, accurate rifles.

I'm going to love mine.

I have a Marlin 25MN and love it!
Nice, accurate rifle and well made....Just don't shoot it much due to the cost of .22 magnum rounds.

marlin .22wmr was my first rifle. i had trouble with it it would not extract spent cases and i broke the extractor. traded it in.
however...i did like it and it was accurate as hell.
the reason not many people talk about it its because marlin isn't as popular as other rifles and it doesnt have as many issues for the people that actually own them.

also have a few Mossberg 151s and just got my Mossy 144lsb. They are excellent target rifles too but prefer the marlins in the fields. I will see the mossy 144s performance this spring as I am slated for gopher eradication again.

I had the marlin model 60 and it was very accurate then I sold it to my nephew, well more or less gave it to him. Now have a 821?, trigger was horrible so did some "work" on it and its a tack driver. I guess you dont hear much cause they are an inexpensive gun and you cant brag to your buddies how much you paid for it!

A person never sees many Marlin .22s ( lots of 30-30 carbines) as they are hard to part with and sold within minutes of being posted. Demand or fewer numbers????

One example is the newer Stevens 300 .22 that my son bought a couple years ago ...has been replaced by a 1940 Marlin 81 and he has never been happier. Seems more accurate with the 24 inch barrel. And longer shots capable easier. Were the older guns made with more quality???? We can only guess, but I will not give up mine.

Yeah, I'm happy with my Marlin 925. I wouldn't give it up even for a CZ even if the CZ looks better. It shoots well, and I like the stock T-900 trigger. Very crisp and no creep. Some people don't like it, but i do :)

this one is easy. Marlin is a fish. How could anybody name rifle "Marlin"?

Secondly, there was a saying not to buy stocks that have an "R" in their name. Would probably be ok in French but in English r is somewhat waste of a simbol. There is a lot in how catchy the name is, some people don't buy Savage for the same reason - how could anybody in his right mind name rifle "savage".

And lastly - model 60 is tube fed which is an archaic concept. I know some will object but it is what it is.

Ah, one more thing. Savage MkII is soo good in the world of bolt rimfire rifles that Marlin better either cost next to nothing or shoot circles around Savage to make people talk about Marlins. Right now there is nothing to talk about - Marlin is just another rifle, plain and dull and grey.

I have a 981T tube fed that holds at least 20lr which is nice not having a huge clip hanging way out. Very accurate and feeds all 22's,S,L,LR flawlessly which is a great option.

You are joking, right?
